Hi all ecf members,

I know it may sound typical or subjective, and i hope i did not repost or open same thread twice.Been scrolling most of the pages but couldnt find anything to be exact or similar to this topic.

When it comes to taste,it is really subjective as some like creamy taste to be like a hint during exhale but a person like me like it to be obvious on every puff.

Ive been trying quite a number of recipes posted online but still cant really get the taste that i want.

My questions are :
- How does Ethyl Maltol affect my outcome?
- Does higher ratio VG will give more creamy taste and sweetness? Is it true higher VG need higher percentage on PG based flavor? Eg 70:30pg ratio.Maybe ranging from 25~30%?

I did try 25% flavoring in 50:50. Steep for a week minimum and give them a try. They taste ok but not creamy enough. After two weeks, they taste slightly better but the creamy was still not as thick as like commercial creamy liquid.i wont judge on the taste quality of my juice since im no commercial liquid maker, just discuss over the creamy thickness only to be fair.

What do you guys think?

All flavorings were TFA and MBV.

Should i :
- Try different PG VG ratio? Higher VG?
- cut down flavoring percentage?
- Longer steeping process?
- Pre-heat liquid for better mixing process?

Lets take this as an example recipe :
TFA strawberry ripe 10%
TFA Vanilla Bean Ice Cream 5%
TFA Vanilla Swirl 3%
TFA Malted milk 2%
TFA Bavarian Cream 3%
TFA Butter 0.5%

Hi @sparkky1 .. Thanks for your reply.

Just asking, is it possible to get the thick creamy taste with just using TFA?

I might need to try to try some CAP,since i never use any before.

My nic which i bought from my local, dont know what brand are they from.

From what i read,EM can bring up the taste and sweetness but i did try 2~4% butbi dont really enjoy the taste of my juice.

Ill try longer steeping time but so far that i experience, the creamy taste doesnt really get into my expectation.

Some flavor manufactures make spot on flavor and some make very dull versions, if you want your juice to taste like the kind premium juice makers are selling you would need to purchase some other brands. You need to watch using EM as it tends to start muting the other flavors.
My suggestions are for a more fuller, richer, real tasting flavors, not saying TFA doesn't have them but as far as berry's and creams / custard's, capella has them beat.Try mixing then sit the bottles in hot / warm water below the top cap for 5-10 min, shake vigorously and repeat three times.

hi @sparkky1 ,

sorry for my late reply. I guess i was too excited to give a try on CAP and see how the turn out.
I just placed an order for all listed CAP suggestion and some other flavor too. Bullcity somehow doesnt offer shipment to my address, so i just emailed directly to CAP support team for their agent and lucky me, i managed to get my order 'accepted'.

TFA in other approach somehow pleased me when i try to DIY tobacco-creamy flavor. When im looking for throat hit, i dont really enjoy too much cream in my juice, so i can still use my TFA.

Just asking for your opinion, which fruity/creamy flavor of TFA can really deliver at its best?

What about other known manufacturer like Flavor West and Inawera?

@Hotwire , i guess maybe you have just missed the discussion, this isnt about what ejuice brand has thicker or richer creamy taste, but HOW to DIY an ejuice to get such fullness and richness like the PREMIUM juice :) No offense, i say it in a good gesture. :)

I agree with you that Charlies Chalk is one of my favourite when it comes to creamy, that is what im trying to figure it out now. A personal handcrafted DIY ejuice that can really match the thickness and richness like the PREMIUM liquid. Overall taste is subjective, lets stick to the creamy part only :)

My strawberry & cream is actually a lot more like strawberry custard, in its taste -- the background flavors are a combo of TFA Vanilla Swirl and TFA DX Bavarian Cream, along with some CAP Sweet Cream -- and it's VERY creamy-custardy, though I use 87% PG, and the recipe is diketone-free.

Inawera Shisha Strawberry 16%
TFA DX Bavarian Cream 6%
TFA Vanilla Swirl 4.5%
CAP Sweet Cream 2%
TFA Sweetener 2% - 3%

TFA - the black cherry goes great with tobacco, the dragon fruit is pretty good, ripe banana, ripe strawberry, watermelon.Vanilla bean ice cream is ok, honestly TFA is not my go to for fruit and creams, flavourart is .........

@AndriaD ..thank u for sharing your recipe.

I would love to try those Inawera, especially their shisha and tobacco flavor BUT cant afford to order overseas too frequent(which the shipping rate is even higher than the goods) . one day i hope.. :)

The recipe look nice but dont u think certain TFA creamy base requires higher % to deliver more noteable creamy taste?

So far my 'acceptable' TFA are the Graham Cheesecake crust, butter, hazelnut, orange cream.

Those TFA fruity are okay but i need to use my ripe strawberry around 12-15% on certain recipe to make it note-able on every exhale. Thats just for an example.

For TFA vanilla bean,my taste bud cant accept anything more than 5% .otherwise i can only taste bitter on every inhale.

Flavorart? Will give it a go in my next order.

Not at all; the DX bavarian really isn't good if you use more than 6%; mixing the 6% Dx bavarian with 4.5% of the vanilla swirl makes a really excellent custard flavor, without diketones. If you wanted to increase the creaminess, you could also add that 2% CAP sweet cream, and voila, creamy sweet custard and no diketones.

Ok, i just tried my friend CAP sweet cream in my juices. A total of 22% TFA flavoring and only 3% CAP sweet cream. Tested 5 hours after mixed already gives me close to the creaminess that im looking for, let just wait for another a week or two and see how they turn out. :)

im so happy which this little 'achievement' but do you think the 3% is enough? i know it is subjective but i would love to taste thicker cream and delicate without any custard note whenever possible before i tame it to my preference. Maybe it is just me or what, when i mixed strawberry + custard / vanilla custard, i start to taste like Cuttwood Unicorn Milk and etc. As for now, i just want to have a break on those taste. :) :rickroll:

Ohh..Unfortunately i do not own any DX Bavarian to give your suggestion a try, only Bavarian cream. I normally mix them up with French Vanilla Deluxe to create some 'cereal taste'. Does all CAP creamy base flavor has this obvious thick/creamier taste compared to TFA?

This discussion had open my imagination and creativity to explore more in DIY-ing ejuice and i enjoy the whole process as i go through them. Thank to you guys, @AndriaD , @sparkky1 and the rest for helping me out.

I still have a long journey to go but i will keep on going :) :thumb:

Really the percentages would depend on you, and your taste -- which is just one of the great things about DIY; don't be afraid to experiment! For the strawberry & cream that I make, I like the 6% DX Bavarian, 4.5% Vanilla Swirl, and 2% CAP Sweet Cream ratio, but it certainly could be altered to make any number of variations -- keep in mind that the Sweet Cream really isn't "sweet," it's just the flavor of actual cream -- so if you want a sweet vape, you might need more sweetener, if you go heavier on the Sweet Cream. Of those 3 ingredients that I use, I think the Vanilla Swirl is probably the sweetest, followed by the Dx Bavarian, then the Sweet Cream.

The TFA Bavarian is probably better tasting than the DX version, but I'm trying to keep all diketones out of my juices -- that's why I use the DX, and why I went with CAP Sweet Cream instead of TFA -- though I've heard that the CAP version is better anyway. It's so authentic tasting, I add it to foods that benefit from cream flavor -- mashed potatoes, scrambled eggs, coffee, etc. We use 2% milk, so using some of the Sweet Cream flavor adds a LOT -- 2 drops in a cup of coffee and it tastes like you used real cream, not 2% milk! :thumb:
