Figured I would mention this: About a week ago, I was watching the football game and accidentally left my PV (with a Phoenix clone on top) on the couch next to me. A few seconds later, it was sat on for awhile- and I didn't realize it until I smelled, and felt, something burning!

So the thing was hot to the touch, but the insides were not all that bad- the thing still worked, but the SS wick had fused to the plastic-like insulator on one of the posts- it required quite a bit of work to remove the wick, lol, and about 20 minutes later I had the whole rig cleaned, back up and running.

So the morals of the story are, Don't sit on your PV during the football game, and Keep your vertical SS wick in your Phoenix clone away from the plastic-like stuff on the posts! lol.

You see? I find these kinds of things out so you all don't have to ;)

I've done that. I was trying to de-funk my coil and accidentally pushed the lead down against the plastic. Nasty burnt taste! When I got home I decided to change it and realized what I did. Atty still works fine, and the insulator wasn't burned too bad. But now I make sure to lift my coil after messing with them and only do it when I have my meter handy.
