How to reduce the density and volume of vapor?

After days of tinkering and head scratching, I finally managed to (somewhat) reduce the density of vapor that's coming out of my atomizer tank.
The only reason I went into rebuilding was the durability and reliability of rebuildable devices, compared to clearomizers. So I really want the atomizer to work. The problem is it works too well.

I am not interested in clouds, but got loads of it. Since I vape unflavoured diy liquid, there was no taste, but there was a huge increase of sweetness from the VG. Just the overall density of the vapor was too much for me. My lungs hurt the following day and I have to be careful to take very small draws, but more often than not this gives me very little throat hit and still I draw in too much vapor (or steam?)

What did help, as somebody on this forum suggested, was to cut the liquid with distilled water. It did help a little bit, although the vapor was still enormous even with a whopping 4.7 ohm coil and vaping at 4 volts. What really helped, at least for the past few hours, was the blocking of all the air holes on the atomizer. This really reduced the vapor. Together with an increase of nic, it made vaping tolerable for the first time in days.

Just to eliminate other potential causes, I am going to buy some ready made liquid to see if it makes it better, in comparison to my diy. (Also, I am a little nostalgic for the lovely vanilla with which my vaping adventure started.)

It would be great to know if there is anybody else out there that has similar experiences. Thank you!

It is the vg that is producing those big clouds of vapor. Adding pg will cut back on the vapor but will also reduce the nicotine concentration. So will adding flavors. It ends up being a balance that you can vape enjoyably and live with. Going 100% pg I believe will be very harsh on your throat and very drying to your body. Make sure you drink lots of water.

You're vaping at about 3 watts on a 4.7 ohm coil, and it's producing too much vapor? I know that not everyone is into cloud-chasing or even low resistance builds, but I think this is the first time I've heard something like that. Lol. PG reduces vapor. So does higher resistance/lower voltage, but you're already vaping at very low wattage, so I'm not sure how much lower you can really go.

Meanwhile, I'm over here vaping a 0.4 ohm coil on a mechanical at about 40 watts. :vapor: :D

Hi again, sorry for not responding earlier - time difference, I'm in Europe.
I did try with different proportions of vg and pg, although not with 100% pg - will try that later on today.

Show your Build
Show or tell - your Device

People are just speculating with NO real information available.
Different devices are built with differing goals in mind.
Coils/wicks can be built in many fashions.

Real data for real assistance please

It's a mvp v2 and squape. Coil with 8-9 turns, 0.20 mm kanthal (32 awg). Tried many different builds, except microcoil, from 2 ohms onwards.
Ecowool wick, not sure of the size because I took pieces (strands) from 3 mm ecowool.
Liquid is now 50% distilled water - this, and blocking the airholes helps a lot. No lung issues this morning.

Thanks.
