I'm having some trouble getting the black plastic screw separated from the polygonal screw

That was what I've just done a few hours ago. And the worst thing is that one of the two o-rings has been torn apart. I was just too busy playing with my new SSGGTS and was not patient enough to put those o-rings step by step..... Because I do not have an extra o-ring to replace I need to purchase another one from COV.
GG O Ring Replacements for AVS
Are these o-rings going to work on mine? Please let me know if anyone knows because I've never purchased any extra o-ring before.
Planet, you can do what Wylie said: using two pair or needle-nose pliers and a handkerchief to protect from scratching. That's what I've done and it worked without damaging the black plasting screw.
Planet, dont touch the plastic, leave it in its place.
So, take off the pin by pulling it
unscrew the polygonal nut from the plastic
put pin inside the polygonal nut. The heads of them are get in touch
Put the o-rings through the pin until they reach the polygonal nut
Screw the polygonal nut into the plastic (push a little the polygonal nut inside the plastic so o-rings will go inside and then start screwing)
Screw the whole thing inside connector only by hand and tight it
Done
Mine did that... because I put to big of o-rings in it. Once the plastic and polynut is out, you can unscrew them from each other by hand, then just screw the plastic piece back in. Then follow the directions for the o-ring replacement. You didn't blow the o-rings did you? Have extras? I am going to post office today to mail off some wicking material to you, you need a couple o-rings also? I have a few...
they are very difficult to source in small quantities![]()
No problem Planetscribbles. I will drop a couple in a mini ziplock for you.
Too cool. I love this group...

The packets the vendors put together are great, but when I need extras when I'm restoring a GGTS and/or an AVS, I don't want to order a packet every time. A couple dozen of all sizes comes to the price of a couple of packets.
JollyRogers is a very good guy, very generous. Thanks again JR.
Imeo, if I end up messing up this plastic screw is there a way I can buy another plastic screw and hex screw pre-loosened? I'm not kidding, I cant get it to unscrew lol

Planet, I made the same mistake and had the same problem yesterday. It was almost impossible for me to unscrew it by using just hands. So here is what I did:
Just like what Wylie said, cover the black plastic screw with handkerchief (so you won't damage the screw) and hold the covered thread with a plier. Then unscrew the polygonal screw by using a wrench.
This was what I've done yesterday and I was able to unscrew it easily without damaging any of the screws. Try it and you'll be also able to unscrew it within a second!! I'm 99% sure that you won't damage the screw!!!![]()
