How to replace main On/Off switch with N.O. Switch?

Hey folks, I'm using the same flashlight as what is typically used for a magnum. I've got a normally open momentary switch from radio shack (I don't have the part number, sadly) and I'm trying to figure out how I can mount it Screwdriver-style on the end of this flashlight.
I've seen other mods where the switch used had a metal body, and one leg of the switch was simply bent until it was touching the metal body to create the negative connection. The button I'm using has a plastic body...
How can I get the desired end result?

I'm sorry if this has been convered elsewhere, but I'm having a real issue figuring it out. I've build standard magnums, but I don't want to drill any holes in this one. No LED, I just want a Screwdriver-like device on hand as a secondary to my Prodigy, nice and clean :)

Thanks in advance~

well if its the standard flashlight everybody uses then you should be able to simply remove the old switch in the tail and replace it with the new one in the same configuration as the original.

You're only wanting to replace the switch action...not add a second switch. So there aren't any positive currents to deal with behind the positive end of the batt.

This Thread should help http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...-diagram-wiring-spst-tact-switch-usb-mod.html

Note: I would not suggest simply replacing the on/off switch with a momentary for REAL safety purposes.

If it is accidentally engaged for an extended period it will burn an atty and perhaps cause injury or fires(in your pocket or in the couch)

The heat can cause the batt to EXPLODE!!!!

And depending on what type of battery you are using it could potentially reduce the batt life and/or damage the batt.(If batt is bad dont recharge)

So if you do bypass a safety switch Be Careful.

I understand that it looks like it should be a simple procedure to do what you want, but trust me, it is not.

The problem is that the size and shape of the original on/off switch on the flashlight is very different to the one you want to use (SD style).
It can be done, but it will take quite a bit of work and you will have to remove the whole switch and assembly from the cap and use some washer to hold the new one and also add a spring to it somehow.
You will have to solder both poles one to the spring and the other to the washer.

I know it doesn't help much, but that is why most of us prefer to just dealing with an additional smaller switch on the side.

An SD case is a little easier to do since the shape of it alone helps in replacing that end switch, but not easy either.

The switch that I have, ironically enough, fits PERFECTLY inside the end-cap. The nut that comes with it fits perfectly in to the hole, and I've used JB Weld to ensure it stays that way. Also, the two legs of the switch (or rather the surface from which they protrude) sits FLUSH on the inside part of the end cap. It seems almost as if this switch was MADE to go inside this flashlight. So, you're saying I should be able to solder one leg to a washer to ground it out, and leave the other leg to touch the negative end of the battery?

Thanks for all the input folks...

Yeah, that would do it, hope you take some pics of the progress so others can see it here. :)
