I dont feel comfortable dry burning an atty I feel like I'm going to blow it. Is there a good way that I can soak it and clean it out? How long do I have to leave it in water and is there anything else I could soak it in? Im trying to clean off a taste as well as get better hits. Am I babying my atty? can it handle it? or can a noob really blow it out?

Then insert your atomizer into any vaping device you have - THAT RUNS 3.7 VOLT (do NOT do this with higher voltage devices )- and in the case of a Jantystick, then push the button and let it hit cutoff, WHILE you blow air into the atomizer with your mouth. Do not have the filter on for this ofcourse.

does my joye 510 have a cutoff on my manual battery?

i always just blew it never cleaned one and have had real good luck with them so far.

I definately see a lack of vapor at times that I can fix blowing through it. I also taste mixed flavors, the previous flavor I smoked and the current cart. That Im definately trying to fix since I plan on switching between about 10 flavors since I got my new sampler

portguy is correct if you like menthol coffee fennel etc keep 1 atomiser just for that flavour.

If its just yuck cos you tried a new one and dont like it first try - blow it out - drip a couple of drops on it and vape it out.
Dont forget to change the cart or the flavour will lurk on.

As a rule I never clean atomisers unless I have to.

Once in a blue moon I use coke to get rid of nasty flavours ....
Soak overnight - rinse well - blow out and leave to let the water drain/evaporate.
Drip 2-3 drops directly on the bridge - fresh cart and away you go.
NOTE Coke will not resuscitate a dying atomiser.

I don't clean mine much anymore. In the beginning I did and destroyed half a dozen in one night.

I feel my problem was--I let them dry out too long. I feel I shouldn't have let them dry completely at all.

Nowadays, if I clean them at all, give them a five or ten minute alcohol bath in a cup (swish them around and around). Then, blow them out...flood them with juice so they ever completely dry--blow it out again--then use it.

I've never taken one apart, but months ago I've heard they have somesort of 'wick' inside of them. If that wick is a fabric then when it drys it will shrink and maybe disconnect itself. In the case of a metalic fabric the problem would be with 'large' temperature differances (expansion and contraction.)

Finally, it's you're choice. I just feel room temperature liquid is better, something with no residue (if it has residue--rinse with water--) blow out, flood with juice, blow out, then use it.

I don't burn mine to clean. I'm a baby... like my attys without a burned flavor, ha. Good way to scorch the wicking under the bridge I think. Besides that, there is a small plastic air funnel inside the 510 atomizer (near the battery end under the pot) and you risk melting and warping it when you dry burn (and your atty will be like trying to suck a bowling ball through a straw for a draw!). Many people do it and recommend it (but I have to wonder how many attys die or get a hard draw that they don't tell you about). No thanks...

I use Pure Grain Alcohol (PGA) to clean my attys. Soak 2 to 24 hours or so if really bad. It will rid a flavor out of an atomizer and it evaporates so no need for long drying time. Just blow out after the soak, and then I shake it out (like a thermometer) until I can't feel any more liquid coming out of it. Prime with your liquid (4-6 drops usually depending on the model you have) and start vaping... add more prime drops to the bridge if necessary.

If I clean a bunch of them, I'll put a few drops of PG on them to keep them wet while stored.

I have to admit I don't clean them often, but when I do, there are bits of black gunk in the PGA and they vape like a champ afterward. All my attys run great, many 7 plus months old and I've never lost a 510.

Kackourey it sounds like you need a few more atomizers!! I have an atomizer dedicated to each flavor I vape (usually 3) and several (ok, over 200) *grin* as back ups in the cabinet. It is my to hell with the FDA stock up!

Keef, LOL... the thought of vaping menthol, coffee and fennel made me gag.

Nah, don't use ISO alcohol... use PGA or a good high alcohol content vodka. If you can't find that or don't want to buy liquor, you can try using the Crest Pro Health Mouthwash (blue). I have some and it seems to work fine, but leaves the atty minty and you need to wash it out with water. Too fiddly for me and I get such a great result with PGA it is all I use.

Good point about if you won't drink it... should be the rule for atty cleaning I think!

For a stubborn flavor, I'll pop an atty in a glass bowl, cover with water (at least 2") and boil it in the microwave for 3 minutes. Let it sit to cool then plunk it in some PGA to displace the water. Prime it and vape away! Just like a new atty again.
