Okay so I've been vaping for two days but still feel I want a real cigarette. Ii may seem strange to you but I only smoked about 7-10 cigarettes a day so thought it would be easy to give up. I am a closet smoker, trying to keep my friends and kids from knowing.

I do enjoy my eluma e cig but still have cravings. I think I used cigs mostly to take a break. Because you can use e cig anywhere I don't go outside to use it. Maybe I should try that? Any ideas to stay motivated would help. I really want to do this and stop smelling and hiding it all the time. Thanks

Well I don't know how much help I will really be seeing as I smoked twice as much as you and didn't ever try and hide it....but here goes.

I agree with the OP about upping the nic. to help with the craving. I still sometimes have cravings and always turn to a strong menthol with a slightly higher nic. and it works. I have also found that using LR atty's/carto's or a 5V PV helps. I am not familiar with the eluma ecig...but maybe you just need something with more of a kick?

If I were you, I would try upping the nic first, taking breaks again and go from there :)

I'm having much the same problem. I tend to use the analogs as a 'break timer' when work gets too stressful. I work at home, so I sit out on a screened in porch for my analog breaks and read a few pages in whatever book I've got going at that time. I'm thinking of setting up a cozy reading corner in the house where I can try to duplicate my 'break room' and go there with my PV instead. Since the porch isn't all that comfortable (hot in summer, cold in winter and damp when it's raining), I'm hoping a comfortable seating arrangement away from my work area will make the PV break seem more enjoyable than the analog break.

Maybe that would help you, too?

Great idea! Though I'd probably end up vaping 'til I read half the book and fall asleep with my PV 3 inches from my mouth.

I found the cravings the fist week or so passed in a couple of minutes. Might try inhaling and let vapor go through your nose. I've read that the nic absorbs better that way and it does improve 'tasting' the flavor. Hang in there :)

This. I started exhaling through my nose and I find it takes me to a whole new level of nicotine satisfaction, not to mention it helps me taste more subtle flavours in my blends.

Like Boodie, my cravings only hit during the first week. Since then though, nothing. At least physically. I'm a little curious about trying an analog. But I've chosen not to.

As for the OP, you're doing fine. Don't put pressure on yourself that you absolutely must not have one. If the craving is really strong and you can't vape through it, go on ahead and have one. At this point, start thinking of how many cigs you've avoided vs how many you've had. So, let's say you have one now. And don't for 2 more days. That's 1 (or 2) over 5 days. As opposed to 35-50 in that same stretch. Plenty of win right there.

Just be patient with it. You've made a conscious decision to quit. Just gotta get your body to adapt. Don't stress over having an analog here or there. In the long run, you'll be off them if you keep with what you're doing.

Good luck. And welcome to ECF.

I'd agree with the others and say up the nicotine level. I used to smoke a whole lot more than you, so I'm getting a real kick out of not having any cigarettes at all. And I'm not having any cravings, which makes it easier. But if having one every now and then keeps you from obsessing, maybe it would be a good thing. Anyway, do whatever works - and good luck!
