Sometimes after leaving it in the car, I vape and get a pop then it floods the battery. I'm wondering if they should be kept upside down, or if the cold effects this...I live in the northeast US so it's getting pretty chilly here. Come to think of it, I'll probably not leave it in the car anymore just because it will beat up the battery.

Kanger Protank 3 (2.0ohm and 1.8ohm)
innokin itaste CLK 1280 (I usually run it between 3.8V and 4.5V, only has adjustable voltage)

I got one of the first Protank 1s released in the US and almost immediately I discovered is how fussy it was about temperature. I think it has to do with the thickness of the glass and the amount of metal. My house is very cold and in the morning the tank would gurgle and spit. My impression was that the juice was cold and the coil couldn't warm it up fast enough to vaporize, since the tank was also cold. I learned that if I held the tank in my hand or put it near a heater until the glass was warm the problem was solved. It doesn't like being too hot either.

I've also found they seem to leak less when stored upside down.

Thanks for the tip, the reason I asked about the cold is because I leave it standing up overnight, and I never have that problem in the morning.

I've only used a Protank 1, so I don't know the particulars of yours, but Proie and I had to have couples counseling before we bonded.

It's windy, USA
The protanks are pretty sensitive to temperature changes, as they work on vacuum pressure. If you leave it in a hot car the air will expand and the liquid will become thicker causing it to flood and leak, etc. If it's upside down, unless it's crazy full the liquid can't get into the tube or down into the connection. Normally after vaping you'll see some air bubbles come up into the tank; my hunch is there is more of a vacuum, and the pressure equalizing is more extreme when you vape and the liquid quickly gets pushed into the tube & base. Spitting is similar, in that the coil is getting flooded and vapor pressure is shooting up through it.

A quick fix for cold can be turning it upside down and cracking open the base to equalize the pressure when it's cold. This can also help when the liquid level in the tank is low. I think. I mean, it's winter so someone will tell me if I'm wrong pretty quick.
