How to transition from hookah smoking?

I have, for way too long, relaxed by smoking fruit-flavoured tobacco in a water pipe (hookah/shisha/what have you). Health considerations have made me stop, but the e-cigarette sounds like an interesting option, if it means I can have nicotine (and possibly flavour) without smoke.

Thus my question: to those of you familiar with both hookah smoking and vaping, how similar can I make the experiences? How? Also, which type of apparatus should I get?

Ideally, I would like to be able to spend an hour or so inhaling without having to replace anything, though I guess that might be difficult.

Grateful for your help!

I have smoked a Hookah many times. IMHO, vaping replicates Hookah smoke almost exactly. Vaping offers a cool vapor with whatever flavor you like. Typically hookah smokers use fruit flavors (not sure what you are used to). You can find any flavor juice you want to replace what you have been using. I would read these forums as to e-juice reviews because there are some nasty juices out there. Hope this helps.

just make a big assed water pipe with a small plug in the wall type electric element with a momentary type push button and ten you can make a drip feed like we do for an oil burning stove, just set the drip very very slow, like maybe a drip or two a minute. With very little effort and a smidgen of creativity, I'd bet you could make a wicked multi staged electric hookah

That is a very appealing idea, though I do not think I have either the technical know-how, the tools or the time to pull it off at this stage. From looking at reviews on this site, I am contemplating getting maybe a joye 510 with manual battery just to try the technique out, and then maybe go from there.

If you want an hour or so of uninterrupted vaping, you should probably check into cartomizers.

This would be appealing, but then I saw a number of posts mentioning issues where the filter materials in the cartomizers would begin to burn, often without affecting the flavour. Is that generally an issue? If so, can it be avoided by choosing the right manufacturer?
