How to wick a ce4 rebuildable clearomizer

Hello, I have a ce4 clearomizer and I want to replace the wicking material. It has the original silica wick in it but I have been getting a lot of burnt taste from it. I looked at the coil and wicking material and the wick is blackened. I have a bag of organic cotton balls and I was wondering what would be the easiest way to re-wick it? I feel like if I pull too hard on the wick, it will break the coil off and it's pretty much brand new. Thanks!

Hi there, Musicenthusiast18, and welcome to ECF!

you might find the photos in this thread interesting (and look for cignewtons's comment about the Ce4).

also,

many forum suppliers (link up there) sell wick material. For more discussion about the Ce-4, use the ECF search feature (up there, on the right side) and just type in CE-4 and see what you get :) Have fun.

A typical CE4 is not really meant to be re-wicked. It seems that it would be really hard to get in there to do that. Way back when I used those, I did manage to dry burn them. You can dry burn a silica wick. Once you have it opened up so you can see the coil, just pulse it until the coil stops smoking, looks clean and glows evenly. This may also burn off some of the dark stuff on the wick. I would flush it again with water to remove any ash and let it dry.

If I remember correctly, the bases of ce4s are fixed permanently to the tube. You might be able to separate the two, but would then have to find a way to join them back with a safe glue/method. They're essentially disposables. I've seen youtubes where they did recoil and rewick a ce4. But might be more trouble than it's worth. Secondly, there is a higher chance of leaking from the part where the tube meets the base.

Maybe you're referring to ce5, where the base and the coil head can be removed? This makes recoiling and wicking easier.
