I joined the forum in 2010, but have only lurked up until now.
Been on and off the Marlboro train since I was 15. I really wanted to quit. Been through the gamut. Snus, patches, gum, Chantix, cold turkey. I would be successful for as long as 2 years at a time, then pick it up again during a stressful moment.
In 2010 I tried an ecig. I was about 98% on board until I misplaced the ecig in my house and reverted back to Marlboros.
After surviving a divorce and a few other life altering milestones, I decided that "...surely after all that, I can quit smoking!"
Dug out my ecig paraphernalia (yes, I found the lost ecig in the rail of my bedframe a month after misplacing it. It had rolled off the nightstand and landed there.) Ordered some fresh carts and gave it a go.

It just wasn't working for me. I stepped back and realized I was going at it ALL wrong. I'm a software developer/project architect. I should be able to figure out a strategy, right?
It was clear that I like nicotine. Completely quitting it was out of scope. The ecigs were not giving me an experience I liked. I wanted to QUIT cigarettes. The expense. The smell. The inconvenience. By now there were many other feasible, readily available options on the market. I bought a clearo, a battery, and some ejuice. It was my first vapegasm. This was IT! This is what I needed!
After some time of sorting out my all day vape flavor (2nd vapegasm) and the right voltage/resistance for a consistent vape (3rd vapegasm)... I've been a non-smoker since June 1st and have no desire to go back.
Since then I've turned my mom on to vaping - a 51 year smoker is now smoke free for a month. She is still sorting out her set up, but I'm there to help her.
That's my story. This forum has been invaluable to me and I'm thankful it exists.
