I smoked analogs for around 8 years, finally broke myself of it cold turkey, and found myself interested in vaping. I started out with an e-Go T and some 24mg tutti frutti crisscross juice. That stuff was pretty harsh on the new rig to say the least, but it wasn't so bad with the small output of the e-Go T.

The e-Go T has been decommissioned since the cartomizer (clearomizer?) cracked, and I went ahead and got a hold of my first mechanical mod. I run a Caraveia tube and adapter, a Tobh Atty rda and tip, and a full copper ring-lock push-button. I use an efest 18650 3.7v 2500 MaH 35A-Draw battery to power it and I'm currently coiled up at 1.1Ω (if I'm taking my readings right).

My favorite juice (of the very limited number of varieties I've tried) is Cuttwood "The Sauce Boss"s 'Sugar Bear' which hales from LA, CA and I would describe as a Cinnamon Toast Crunch flavor (I can't remember if 0 or 12mg). I also have 'Skittles' by Castro's Flavors (which I believe is 12 or 16), the tutti frutti I mentioned, and some "cigarette flavor" 24mg 100% vg that the label is too rubbed off on to further identify, that I am terrified to try lol.

I vape for enjoyment, I like chasing clouds (the little clouds I can make anyways), and that's pretty much it.

If anyone has comments on my setup, I'm all ears. From what I've seen this is a pretty great community and I look forward to being a part of it =)

I just joined here like 20 minutes ago and im trying to get 5 posts so i can go to the other areas of the forum (i'm sure you are too) so i'm sorry if this post seems useless but you have a nice setup and also your clouds would get bigger if you drop your ohms a little.

I'm still on regulated mods as it's all I own but i have played with a mech at the local shop and it was a sweet experience. Maybe my kids will slow down on food/diapers I can get some cash together to get a nice mech lol

I got all of my parts for free thankfully, or I would never have been able to work my way up to chasing the clouds of my dreams... TL;DR my friend kept getting harsh hits, got a variable box and gave this to me charger, batteries, mod and all. I did a bit of cleaning, fixed the coils, rewicked, tested, gave it back, he still wasn't digging it and told me to keep it. I got extremely lucky (for once ha )

Appreciate it! I will have a look into it and make a note about findings! Someone told me they are really only good for 20A-Draw Continuous, but I don't think I'll be sub-ohming that low any time soon. I'd have to get down to 0.185 Ω, but I am ethusiastic so who knows I will definitely keep it in mind!

Yea I felt the head rush, that and the terrible throat hit are why I'm sticking to the Sugar Bear. I haven't gotten them all yet, but I'm sure I'll get there in no time =)

That will probably be the first thing I do (besides the thorough cleaning and rewicking I've already done). I also used 100% cotton balls for my wick material, trying not to twist it up too much in the coils as no to inhibit wicking. Are there any better wick solutions for my goals, or is it just all hype? (Pretty new to the details of vaping, sorry if my questions seem silly )

I use Rayon for my builds got a HUGE box of it for $10 or so at sallys -- not a huge diff between this and the max hygiene cotton balls I used before -- this is slightly better at wicking and doesn't burn as easily. but its all about the same as long as you dont get stuff with random chemicals left on it its all good

I've seen a couple of people talk against Rayon, it doesn't mean it's true, but it's something I wouldn't want to experience myself.

I got a rash on my chest a couple days after I started using the Kayfun wicked with rayon. After spending the last week tracking possible causes, it appears that it is the rayon wick. I could taste the cooked rayon and it became more noticeable as the days went on.

I strongly suspect that cooking the rayon within a heating coil is not safe to vape. It is not possible to use rayon as a wick without cooking it to carbon when it has a heating element wrapped around it.I re-wicked every other day as the rayon was toast - completely broken down with the heat.

I went back to the mineral wick eco-wool yesterday. The rash has calmed down this AM.

There isn't anybody out there that is feeding us good reliable data on the materials we use for vaping.
We should be very conservative when evaluating new materials for ourselves.

Abstract
Acute toxicity of the combustion products from various fibers was evaluated in animal experiments. The materials used were cotton, gauze, acetate, rayon, polyester (PE), polychlal (PC), polyvinylidene chloride (PVDC), silk, wool, polyacrylonitrile (PAN), and modacryle (MA).

Rats, mice, and rabbits were exposed to gases released from these materials, heated with an electric heater. In experiments with rabbits animals inhaled gases through a tracheal cannula under urethane narcosis. As indices for toxicity, the time at which animals were impaired severely, was used in rat experiments while the death time was used in experiments with rabbits and mice. The concentrations of O2 and CO in the exposure room were determined continuously, blood COHb and cyanide values were also estimated. Gases from fibers containing nitrogen impaired severely and killed the animals earlier than any other materials. Blood analyses revealed the presence of high values of cyanide in PAN, MA, and silk experiments. HCN was considered to be responsible for the high toxicity of gases from these materials. In the case of wool, despite of high toxicity of its combustion products, blood cyanide and COHb values were not very high. Gases from cotton, gauze, and rayon impaired severely and killed the animals relatively early in the exposure period. Toxicity of combustion products from these materials was attributable to CO on the basis of gas and blood analyses. Acute toxicity of PE and acetate gases, being less than that of cotton, gauze, rayon under the present experimental conditions, was explained mainly by CO. Neither severe impairment nor death occurred during exposure in PC and PVDC experiments.

Just boring dual micro coils. 2.5mm inner diameter, 4-5 wraps.

Yep! Thats the cotton. A 60 pack will last you a very long time.

but I did find an interesting follow up over there -- bottom line the did not test the wood fiber version -- they tested the stuff used in fake silk shirts.

This test is 40 years old. Well before the new wood fiber rayon was developed.
This is a report on synthetic rayon fiber and others. Not the same as rayon fiber made from wood. The test was a combustion test (FIRE releasing gases) My wicks don't make a flame when I use them. Do you know what eco wool is made out of?

You said you would have to get down to a .18 to get 20 amps? That may be true on a 3.7v battery..... A FRESH charged battery on a mech mod outputs at 4.2 on a fresh charge. It drops down from 4.2 to 3.7 and stays at 3.7 for a while. Most vented batteries happen on a fresh battery.
