I've not posted since Monday. My favorite boy in the world (Raleigh, aka Squishy) lost his battle to cancer a few days ago. He was originally diagnosed with a severe, aggressive cancer last June. After a burst tumor was removed surgically, Raleigh went through chemo treatments on and off since then. He was in remission for months, but unfortunately, the cancer appeared again about a month ago. Raleigh was supposed to start chemo treatments again tomorrow, but got very sick Sunday. By Monday, he was worse, and the oncologist could no longer help him.

We’re grateful for the wonderful year we had with him after he was diagnosed. I wish he was still with us, but I’m glad that he’s no longer sick and that he can play with his furry friends in doggy heaven.

Eventually, I’m going to change my avatar picture, but I’m not ready to yet.

Anyway, I just wanted to let everyone know why I’ve not been in the forum the past few days.

Sandra, I am so sorry to hear that. Losing a pet is a sad thing to have to go through. I am glad you got some great years from him, and I am sure he is glad of those years too.

I hope you don't change your picture for a while, that picture is what I associate with you. It just won't be the same without his beautiful eyes looking at us.

Sandra, you and I have spoken at length about our four legged family members, and we have spoken since Dear Raleigh pasted. So I know that you already know my thoughts and feelings about your loss.

But again I am so very sorry for your loss of a Great friend and family member! I know in my heart that big boy Squishy is healed, and whole in body and mind....rompin and stompin up there! :)

I am so so sorry Sandra to hear about Raleigh/Squishy. I know you have done your best for him and believe me, he knew it too. He's in a better place and no more sickness. I do understand how special our 'pets' are and the bond we have with them, so this was no easy decision to carry out, but the best one to do for him.
Wish I was there to give you a hug and shoulder..but this will have to do. My heart is sad.

Well dear, I'm sorry about the passing of Raleigh and can certainly understand the empty place in your life right now.

But you know what? You have a great big heart with room there for a whole lot of love and I'd just bet - that even though it may not seem like it right now - that somewhere out there is a little fella with shiny eyes just waiting to meet up with you and get some of that love..

Grieving is normal, but keep the doors to that wonderful heart of yours open ...
