If you're not familiar with Hitchens, you should be. He's a prominent (and funny/witty) atheist.

In 2009 (iirc) he was diagnosed with esophageal cancer. I had been keeping up with his progress but lost track over the last few months. I just thought to check on him tonight and the most recent article I could find said that he had lost his ability to speak in May of this year.

He would find this insulting, but mention him in your prayers. Every picture I see of him... the cancer and treatments are taking their toll.

I've actually listened to some of his debates recently. Very interesting intelligent person. I will pray for him.

Holy Father, we come to You in the Powerful Name of Jesus, asking for Mr. Higgin's salvation. When death is looming about us, people are more receptive about hearing the GOOD NEWS of Jesus' saving Grace. Father, I humbly ask that You give this soul one more chance to become one of Your children before he breathes his last breath. Lord, I ask that You help this man's family to cope with his illness as I know how it is when someone loses a loved one. It never goes away as only that person can fill the void left in your heart. Lord, I plead the blood and mercy of Jesus over this man and may his last days be filled with love and joy. We humbly ask is in the Name that is above all Names, Jesus Christ. Amein.
