Hi I’m looking For suggestions, I was doing well with caliburn, when I tried to up the newer model, it plays awful on my lungs and I would get bronchitis easily, even just changing the ohms of the coil, the better quality hit/taste, the more it bothers me. I tried to quit. I rounded up everything and gave it away. That didn’t work so well, I lasted 2 weeks. I bought a disposable, well basic disposable was higher in Nic than I was using so I ended up upping my Nic instead of down. I am finding most disposables I am buying has that ice kick to it even if not advertised as ice, I dont do well with those. I feel like I need to start over, my fav juice always was juice head strawberry kiwi. So I’m thinking I need to find a device that lasts more than 3 fills without tasting burnt without tearing me up. Does anyone have suggestions?

I haven’t been back to this forum in years so please pardon me trying to figure out how to navigate it.
No worries... I'm guessing my question is, why disposables, instead of a small mod, a solid tank (either sub ohm or rebuildable) and batteries? I would think, long term, you save more money than continually buying disposables. Not to mention, I would think you'd have a bit more control in regards to dealing with harsh hits.

Having also moved past the caliburn, Mrs Izan is tickled with the OXVA XLIM.
Multiple models, long life, non leaky pods and dependable, solid construction.
Happy wife and all that....

Good luck with your search.

I’m not seeing anywhere but the actual OXVA store to purchase, I don’t like being pigeoned holed into only having one place to get new carts for replacements. do you purchase outside of the oxva site?

My local vape shop stocks the line.

I feel the same about being "locked-in", so I have a squonk RDA and I DIY my juice.

Cheers

It might help if you told us about where you are on your journey.

Are you trying to just get off smoking? If so how much did you smoke?

What are you looking for? Something easy? Something you might have to work at a wee bit? What does it have to give you?

Where do you want to go vaping wise?

I quit smoking easily 20 yrs ago? Not sure, but I never spent more than $20 a carton if that gives you a timeline. Had nothing, then 6 months later I was going to lose my quit…nicotrol inhalers were available at the time (just recently taken off the market because of ecigs im sure) and those saved my quit. For at least a couple yrs I use the nicotrol. then I tried my first e cig, I’m talking The awful first ones that china brought out. Eventually I was using the ego 510s, making my own juice, I was all in. After doing that for years, I found the Uwell caliburn and the flavor was so much better, I was satisfied and kind of stopped looking at all the latest and greatest items (I was buying too many mods, equipment etc because it was popular here). I used my caliburn for a long time. Stopped making my own juice because I couldnt touch juice head version and it was worth spending the $ on that. I’ve had mild COPD for quite a while, it dramatically worsened on my last check, not to where I need medical intervention but a move in the wrong direction for sure. I’m obsessive compulsive and I know I need to walk away from them but my brain just isnt helping me (other depression issues). I vaped the 3% Nic, reg, not salt. So I guess in my twisted way I am trying to continue because I’m not fooling anyone, but reduce the irritation and cost. So those big bad boy mods etc are not a good idea for me.

yes to easy, fill charge, replace pod or atomizer is all I am interested in.

How’s that for my life story? Good think I don’t like drugs…or drugs heavier than nicotine…

Like I said, this is just in the past month and it was something I could grab at most any gas station, I’m here now to ask for guidance to get me steered to the right device for what is out now.

With your stated respiratory problems, i'd suggest strongly that you consider an alternative source of nicotine, such as pouches (Zyn, et al). There are different flavors, which is something you mentioned as being attractive to you.

If you insist on vaping, there are a large number of simple, refillable pod devices available from several manufacturers & none is really any better than any other; it depends on your personal preferences. I don't have 1, only saw YouTube reviews, but Voopoo has a new device called the Argus A that has enough bells & whistles to keep a person distracted, adjustable airflow, a few different but simple settings, and replaceable pods that should be available readily.

Innokin also makes products that could be good for you. You might consider the Trine Q or the Klypse Pro. Simple to use devices from a company known for reliable products (though not necessarily for the most flavorful coils).

Vaporesso's Luxe X is another possibility. It can take replaceable pods or pods w/ replaceable coils, giving you a lot of options to try, and Vaporesso coils are known for good flavor.

A quick online search should give you reviews for all of these. i have to doubt any will be better for your issues than the Caliburns you've used, though. Again, perhaps you should consider a different way to get nic.

I value your lengthy reply and thank you for it. Unfortunately today has not been the best of days - we are both in our 70s and my wife has taken a bad fall. She hasn't fractured anything but is welll shaken up. I will reply more to the point later

I have to be honest, I didn’t have copd prior to vaping, to sell this as healthier is a hmmm from experience, but I’m going to assume that is not going to be a popular opinion here. I’m working on the mental aspect of it, zyn doesnt help the hand to mouth, I’ve tried.

Bought a caliburn X pod system today at a vape store, it runs a warm draw, the flavor isnt crisp…it tastes like soggy heat without bringing the flavor through, it’s kind of awful…so here we go, let’s spend hundreds to find something. UGH.

I vaped the 3% Nic, reg, not salt.

Do you mean 3% or 0.3%? 3% is pretty high, although not near as high as disposables which clock in at 5%, but they use salts. Nicotine base can be pretty irritating at high concentrations. Commercial juice almost generally uses salts at 1.8% (18mg/ml) and higher. If you are vaping regular Nicotine base at that high of a concentration, it might be causing your symptoms. Try switching to the salts.

It was the lowest for that juice 0, 3 or 5 were the options, but I do think you’re right, I need to switch to salts.

Thanks to all for your good wishes. Rhona's fine although badly bruised. We are in our 70s and this just happens as we both have arthitis in our knees spines and hips - for no apparent reason the ould bodies just give in without warning.

She hit the TV on her way through to the kitchen when she came down while I was in the car getting out our sticks - the TV is written off but that's of no account; it's just a thing by comparison to my soulmate, wife and companion of 30 years.

She's sore but still here which is the main thing.

    Thanks again all.
