I am new to the forums and to DIY e-liquid vape mixology

HI, As the title says, I am new to the forums and to DIY e-liquid vape mixology. For that matter, I'm pretty new to vaping too. I have read here often though and find that most people are both pleasant and informational. As such, I'd like to thank everyone for that. But now on to this long winded first time post.

I only started vaping 2 months ago to quit smoking. Today I use no Nic in my vape juice. So guess that means I have quit smoking. Though I do love to vape still and my friends that vape still use nic.

My weapons of choice are a vamo, a couple of Joyetech eGo-C (1000 mah) Twist batteries and a clone Sentinel I got via fastTech (love this thing). I use kanger mini pro tanks, a couple of SmokTech Pyrex 6 ml Dual Coil Cartomizers, An rsst RBA, a Nemesis RDA and a IGO-W RDA. My builds on the rebuildables vary. My dripping rebuildables I use nothing but boiled cotton balls shredded, then twisted into a cotton wick. Still use ss mesh 400 in my Genesis Rsst. wire is either 32g Kanthal or 28g.

After several weeks of reading here in the forums, this is what I've done as far as mixing.

Below is a list of flavors I have ordered and received from The Perfumer's Apprentice (TPA?). I also went to Amazon and got 1qt. each of Propylene Glycol & Glycerin Vegetable Kosher USP. I haven't gotten any Nicotine yet, because at the time I was ready to do my ordering, Wizard Labs showed to be out of stock on all Nic at that time and since I don't use nic myself and only my friends do, I figured I could wait. . Of course since then (a week ago), they now have some. Oh and I downloaded the e-juice me up program and have it too. Any hoo, As I said, I've read here for at least a month, almost on a daily basis. So what have I done thus far.
Okay first thing I did, was made a 5ml bottle of nothing but a 50-50 blend of PG and vg. I did this to taste it to see how neutral it was. VG of course had a sweet flavor lil nuance to it. Other then that! Pretty bland.

Next thing I did, was mixed a 5ml bottle of Watermelon 50-50 blend, a 5ml bottle of Kiwi 50-50, a 10ml bottle of Pomegranate and a 20 ml bottle of French vanilla with Sweet cream all using the E-juiceme up program. I shook each bottle basically until my arm got tired. I then boiled some water and took the pan off the heat and placed all my bottles into the hot water and let them set in that, pretty much until the water cooled off. I took the bottles out and shook them all again and then set them aside (except for the French vanilla which I vaped right off).

Oh and everything was made with a 20% base . IE: 20% watermelon etc.

Okay it's now 25 hours later and this is my results after taste testing.

Watermelon mostly tastes like biting into a green leaf, a subtle hint of a melon taste, but not much like "water melon". Hummm .... disappointment

Pomegranate... It smells lovely, Just like a Pomegranate. But taste! Nope. Huge disappointment since I sure do like the one my local vape shop sells that taste like a Pomegranate, at least some.

Best one was the French Vanilla/sweet cream (a French vanilla Ice-cream thing maybe!) and I'm vaping that as I type this. Num Num Good.

As of this typing, I have not tasted the Kiwi yet

Oh! I also I made a root beer one taken from the e-juice me up program. 5ml of it, but it's going to sit until next Friday before I try it. . Here's the recipe

Root Beer (TBA) 15% .75ml
Sweetcream (TBA) 5% .25ml
Wintergreen (TPA) 1.5% .075ml
PG @ 1.38ml
VG @ 2.5ml
It calls for 1% PGA (pure grain Alcohol but I didn't put that in. I just added .05 more pg to make up for the 1 % PGA.

So far I'm not impressed with much of what I've made. At this point I have no idea how to get The taste of a watermelon out of TPA watermelon extract. As well, the same can be said about the Pomegranate. So here I am at my first post yelling HELP! Please.
BTW, like a lot of folks here that I have read the words of, I too like my flavors prominent and sweet. Might can tell that from my list of things I got from (TPA)

First most Hiya and Welcome to ECF

On watermelon TFA back down your percentage of flavor. To much flavor is as bad or worse than not enough. I go 10% on that one. I have not used pomegranate - but I would suggest the same. It is possible that the pom just needs longer steep time.

I'll second your sentiments on that, the people here have been great.

That being said my advice will be limited, but one thing I didn't see you mention was your pg/vg levels except for the root beer. I actually ran across somewhere that it was mentioned pg can add a bit of a brightening effect to your flavors, watermelon is pretty mild in general and pomegranate pretty think, have you tried playing with a higher pg?

Maybe someone a bit more experienced can elaborate on this a bit more

So Next week maybe something better will happen in the flavor department. I'll report back on it all then. I think the 20 percent French Vanilla I am vaping on at the moment, might be a bit much, so that's why I took it back to 10%.

But again my thanks. Maybe with more reading and experimenting, I'll eventually make something I feel like I can't live without in my vaping. Right now! Well lets just say; my palette has tasted far better then what I've done thus far.

Welcome to ECF Tony. Don't get frustrated, its all about experimentation. Also you might consider flavors from other companies. If you like your stuff sweet and prominent (as you said), I think .25% sweetener may be a bit low.

I was skeeerd. LOL... I figured if the Sweetener was to low, then maybe I could add more later? Many posts here say to be gentle with the sweetener so I was. But yes, I do like my flavs as you said. And yes, once I get used to this new thang of mixing with the TFA stuff, I'll venture out to other companies to test.

short and sweet - too strong and not enough time to sit 25 hours is really nothing especially for a fruit base. at least 3-4 days min.

like others suggested head on over to the DIY arena

Okay i'm back with reports/

Rootbeer turned out pretty good.

Watermelon even at 10% tastes kinda funky even after letting it sit 5 days.

Kiwi came through, Kind of a mellow flavor really. Might try mixing a tad bit of Cotton candy in it. Cotton candy seems to bring some things to life I've learned.

Pomegranate turned out awesome (if you like that sorta fruit). I'm vaping it in a 6% nic while I type this.

The French vanilla I made is so good, I gave it a name. LOL "num-num nilla" or "TripleN"

Now that I have my 5 posts in I'll now take the advice and head over to the DIY part of the forum. Ty everyone who posted here to me.
