At the very least ensure there is a chair behind you so you lessen the fall from how blown away you are going to be...

Quick Q.
When using 30g Kanthal, how are u approaching ur micro builds?

Mostly I'm interested in what size drill bit or whatever. 1/16, 5/64, 3/32 etc. And how many wraps? I want to be around 1.3 - 1.8 ohms or higher for my first micro build (but not standard coil, pretty good at that).

I know there's a bunch of threads but a lot of crazy stuff going on in those. Want to keep it as simple as possible for right now.

1/16". 8 wraps of 30 should put ya where you wanna be.

Remember, less is more with cotton. Here's how your setup should look, but only 8 wraps since your using 30.

Thanks Super X. The coil comes out super small at 8 wraps. I guess that's ok but I think I'll order some 28 gauge tonight. 30 was great for standard coils on my Kanger heads but I can see the advantage of 28 now.

Oh yeah I tried cotton and didn't really like it. So it's gonna be fun threading silica lol!

I almost never run a coil with less than 10 wraps. Try the 8 wrap and roll up a 10 wrap and see which you like better.

I used exclusively 30 for the first 6 months of RBing A's and it worked awesome. I got the fatter wire cause I find it easier to roll up

Oh, I recently been using 29 ga. I find that 10 wraps of 29 is my favorite. Around a .055" mold it's 1.4 ohms.
