Outside of cloud chasing on a rda running dual coils and 2mm airholes, there is very little to be gained IMO. I don't even need to try one of the clearomizers on the market today to know they are doing it wrong. The coils are stacked, and the airflow to the coil stacked on top is blocked. It's wasteful and fundamentally flawed design, and the OP is partially correct; it is a trendy marketing scam.

The thing is, everybody wants things "bigger, better, and right now." Of course your old clearomizer is obsolete... you need to throw it away right now and buy this new one with double the coils. Your so missing out, man.

I kind of understand the concept if you are using a mech mod and getting into high wattage/low ohm vaping. So an RBA makes sense.

But a Mini PT 3 with Ego Threads or I Clear 16B seems a bit silly. My MVP 2 has a max wattage of 11.0 watts in variable wattage mode. Which means on the iClear 16B or Mini PT 3 I'd only be pushing at most 5.5 watts per coil.

I guess it strikes me as wierd that these are being released as "mainstream" devices when there is really very little current main stream APV's that can properly drive them. I can't imagine an iClear 16B on a standard eGo-T.......brrrrr...it's cold outside....

Edit.....Thanks all for your feed back.....I thought I was losing my brain....but I think I get it....I'm not crazy. Dual coils have a place, but not so much in the mainstream where they are currently being marketed. Making the $$$ off the "more is better" argument knowing a lot of vapers don't know about the whole ohms law thing, and your typical shop owner is going to push a dual head device because it's newer so it must be better....
