hey guise, right now i use mt3s clearmoizers from kanger on my mvp 2, but when i'm at work i have to leave my ecig in the car and when i go to take a break after a few hours, i find that my tank has leaked, no matter if i leave it on or off the battery, and whatever position i lay it in (on it's side upside down, etc) it's always got a drop or 2 and leaks more if i try vaping it.

does anyone have any good suggestions for a clearomizer that doesn't leak? i would really like to stick with bottom coil setups, but i am open to try new things as long as they are at least semi cheap both temp and in the long run

ive read up some on cartotanks but i'm not really convinced about them, however my wife wants to try them out, so i'll be looking into them as well

Kinda hard to avoid leaking with bottom coil clearos left in a hot car, even if turning it upside down should minimize it - I don't know how or what you work with, but is simply bringing the device and clearo with you not an option?
Sorry if I'm asking the obvious here :p
Maybe a small insulating/thermobag of some sort could help keeping the temperature a bit more constant?

i work delivering pizzas, i know i know lousy job, anywho, i can't bring it inside with me, boss already said no tobacco products indoors, and dont worry about asking questions, im always glad to answer them, i never thought about the insulated thing, but i might look into it if thats my only option or something, im really just getting fed up with these coils/heads/tanks/etc

I would absolutely recommend a cooler. Any clearo will leak when left in a hot car. I learned this the hard way about a year ago. I left a clearomizer in my glove box for a few hours on a hot humid day. When I got back to my car I had a glovebox full of juice! The ejuice thins in high temps, causing it to leak out. Try keeping your clearo cool, should help. Good luck!

I have that problem with clearos and altitude changes while driving and also temp changes. Someone suggested storing them upside down and that works for me if I don't need to use them. I take them off of the battery first. I then got an RSST genesis tank. I do single coil and twisted cotton wick. I have to keep them upright but they don't depend on vacuum to work. I also have a small squarish soft sided lunch tote with a plastic liner. I toss an ice pack in with a hand towel between it and my vape gear.

Another tip is to start the day with the clearo as full as possible so that the air is as small as possible. The air expands from the heat and pushes the juice out the coil. Then when you go out to use it, stored upside down, open it up to allow the air to escape, then close it up and enjoy.

lol i think i'll try the ice pack thing (one of those that are inside a plastic case) and a hard plastic cooler or something

and yes, when i leave it in my car, i take it off the battery and turn it upside down and place it in my cup holder in the center arm rest, but when i do that, it usually leaks out through the mouthpiece, dunno how but there's always a couple drops that seep out and onto my hand when i dry it out

Bottom coil clearos act something like a moonshine still as the center tube collects condensation. This liquid runs down into the coil and causes gurgling and flooding after a while. It also accumulates where the coil pipe ends in the tube. When you turn it upside down (like I do in a cup with paper towel in it) the liquid drains by gravity to the tip.

funny thing, i did not have a job for a few months, back around thanksgiving or so (november) and got this job in march, in my down time, i went through only 4 coils for my mt3s kanger tank (about 1 coil a month) but now that i started this job i seem to be going through them about 1-2 coils a week, i use the gurgling sound as an indicator that it needs to be rewicked or cleaned up or something

Yup; that's how it is;

at first you can use coils for about a week ; by then they get so completely bad there's no mistake about it.

as you get more experience you detect flooding or dropoff in flavor more clearly.

i always thought it was funny though cause when i wasn't working i was only using one coil per month, but once i started it went to one coil per week, sometimes 2 per week

You can try blowing through it into a paper towel. If they are not clogged or burnt you can rinse them in hot water, then blow through the top pipe and let them dry overnight, then try them again. Save your old ones and rebuilt them.

i cannot rebuild them, i can take out the old flavour wick, and put new wicking in, but the coil part i cannot rebuild, i have tried many many times, but they have all failed, i just can't get the wire wrapped around the wicking correctly, even using a screw or nail or anything, when i do that and test it (on my mvp2) it says there is nothing there

it's hard dealing with recoiling, but rewicking a coil 10+ times before it really dies is well $worth$ it.

Back to your original question, I read where many ppl said to place the tank up side down. Along with that take the base of the tank off or at least very loose. If the expanding hot air can go out easily it doesn't look for other places to go out. In the summer if I take a tank out ill unscrew the base right before I leave my house. When I get to my car Ill screw it back on and it vapes just fine. I forgot a couple times with this warmer weather recently and paid for it by flooding issues. Also gurgling in the heat, imo, is not a sign of a bad coil. just the heat screwing with you.

doing this method, would i still put in flavour wicking on top of the cotton?

With MT3s, I found that a tiny flavor wick is helpful to prevent flooding. Nothing big, though. I've tried it without and always ended up going back and putting one in. Your mileage, however, may vary.

Try both ways.

A few times.

With thick liquids you might find it works better without flavor wicks.

I've found with cotton and with my mostly vg think homemade liquid its been better without flavor wicks, but I am still experimenting;

these days I've been running a long cotton piece like in the pic, then wrapping the two long ends round to the other side, in order to double back as flavor wicks. But my main trouble with putton cotton flavor wicks in the past is it had tended to block airflow, leading to a tighter draw.
