I craved a real cigarette for about a minute last night.

Hanging out with friends just gaming, playing pool, darts, etc. Some green and a few beers later and suddenly it hit me like a ton of bricks. I wanted that full bodied throat hit, bad. I've been vaping 100% VG so I've been thinking of getting some stuff with PG for weekends when I'm throwing back some beers with friends. It's kind of hard to explain but when I'm drinking the throat hit matters more to me after a few. The mix I use is already hovering around 24mg so it's not a issue of strength.

Up until last night I hadn't thought twice about an analog all week TBH.

Anyone else have a similar experience?

Some people I have seen, will take a stronger mg nicquid for those times when out drinking because of that same issue, or even because when around smokers the brain triggers that Want! The plan to have something with you for just that time is a good plan. Take both. Can't hurt but can help!! There is no wrong or right way, just the ones that work best for you.

I, and I am sure many like us, have had that time where we just want a real cigarette. Sometimes we give in a grab one, light it up, and go OMG this thing taste like _________ (fill in the blank). Two puffs later its out and my favorite juice is calling me. For me a fruit flavored juice brings me right back to vaping.

Bottom line is don't worry about it, even if you give in. Keep vaping.

Not in a very long time. How long ago did you quit?

It's been about a weeks time now. I'd say the entirety of the week has been ridiculously easy in terms of not caring for cigarettes, can't say I've had any cravings apart from last night. This is something I can't say about my experiences with going cold turkey and using patches or gum, so there's that. I suppose with such a short period of time between me and the last analog this is to be expected though eh?

True. I think what I had missed at that moment wasn't exactly the taste or desire for burning tar and smoke in my throat, but just the hit. I think the beer might have dulled me out some to the point where I wasn't feeling much of a hit anymore from the electronic, and in that moment I desired something with more body (PG). I'll probably order some tonight with a bit of PG and see if that helps remedy the situation in the future.

I've been under the impression that 24mg was quite high, maybe even overkill.

Sound advice. In fact, the week before last I sort of made a promise to myself to not do a combo smoke + vape as that's what I did to start (incrementally lowering analog consumption). I understand slips happen and the important part is to keep on going with the vapes, because every bit of resin and tar not smoked from the analog is considered a positive. Not all or nothing, definitely. With that said, however, I feel that it's important for me to keep myself away from analogs as much as possible. I've decided at least that personally I don't want to accept or entertain the idea seriously so I've made a personal promise not to touch one beyond the beginning of this past week. If anything it was just a short period of time in which I was highly annoyed. I just went to the bathroom, washed my face, swished my mouth with some water and by the time I returned everything was back to normal. I think that tiny bit of discomfort for a very small finite amount of time was worth not lighting up.

I'd say one craving in an entire week is quite forgiving though, having experienced the lack of hand to mouth motions with NRTs such as gum and patches, both of which I've failed to be successful with. If anything it just threw me off. I was getting the impression that I was home free!

Surely you didn't really think the cravings would go away in a week? Try months.

Surely I did. No other replacement product has gotten me nearly an entire week with zero cravings. Granted it's not perfect, it's way more effective than anything else I've ever tried, so you might begin to see why I thought it would remain that way. However, as I said it was mainly an issue of throat hit. I'm sure if I throw some PG in the mix, any sort of issue like this should be remedied. Electronic Cigarettes by far still remain the easiest and most forgiving means of leaving analogs behind that I've tried thus far, which is quite impressive in and of itself.

if a real cigarette tasted as good as vaping, id smoke in an instant. I do miss the feel of inhaling smoke, but I dont miss spitting after every puff and waking up every morning out of air. ive had those times where I would light a cigarette, then step on it later midway through one puff

Well said, no positives could possibly ever outweigh the negative cost of acting on a craving.

Indeed. Somehow, the vaping took away the constant want for a cigarette when I quit. No other method of NRT worked like that for me. I was also amazed at going days or weeks without wanting one or thinking of one.

That said, you might experience half a dozen to a dozen cravings a year. But they won't be the nagging, gut-wrenching, get-in-the-car-and-speed-to-the-gas-station cravings. You can vape right through them and they might just last a minute. HUGE difference to me... Unlike any other quit I ever tried.

Drinking beer is one of those things... I used to take a swig of beer, and a drag off a cigarette, until the cigarette was gone. When drinking I could fly though a pack in just a couple hours. They went hand-in-hand and that is when I think about smoking. Just for a minute, and it passes, but it's still there. The only other thing that triggers a craving for me, is high stress.

They don't completely go away. But for other former smokers, who quit cold turkey, or using gum, etc, they get them too, years later even.

Consider yourself lucky that it was mild, over quickly, and you have something you enjoy to replace it. Vape on!

its been almost two years since i started vaping and quit smoking, I too will be out with friends at a bar and think hmm wonder if it still taste the same, I have learned when going out vaping and drinking to bring carto options with flavor. I bring a strong tobacco with 60vg ratio and 40pg ratio, also my favorite all day vape. The three month point for me was really hard, i remember nothing satisfying my craving for the real thing, I did ask someone for a cigarette, smoked on it twice and said ewwww..solved that problem...but it will happen, its a long process, smoking addiction is probably one of the hardest habbits to break. Just remember to bring back up's, and choices. I also use variable voltage, and i can kick the heat up on the vapor when out drinking it helps too.

Glad to see someone else has noticed how easy these things are on withdraws. Being able to vape through any craving is really really nice. I'm definitely happy I won't be rushing to the gas station anymore, been there, done that.

I've recently put a minimal amount of money into an eGo starter kit. So unfortunately variable voltage won't be coming until I've justified my current purchase in line with what I've spent against cigarettes in the past.

I'll be looking into traditional flavors for habits sake, at least if I'm going to be doing weekend drinking (which is usually a thing).

What setup and what flavors are you vaping? Certain flavors have more of a throat hit than others. Bobas Bounty has a great throat hit and it is 100% VG. Some fruit flavors have more than others, as well. I just avoid PG at all costs, myself.

I've taken to sweeter flavors and have been consistently sticking to 100% VG, Snake Bite & Plum Crazy, both of which seem to have an okay throat hit. As stated above I'm currently using an eGo starter kit with a Vivi Nova and Stardust (depends on what I feel like). Why do you avoid PG?

I gotcher' huckleberry right here :)

Ashtray

I tried this stuff after being off of the crapstix for 3 weeks. Well after I started liking all the foofee flavors I thought I could never get into.

Get it in the 30mg nic, but be gentle. This is the closest thing to the taste/throat hit, it's amazing.

I recommend either a 1.5 or 1.7 ohm atomizer, just drip it straight on the atty, a debridged one if you can find it.(this may be way to early if you are just starting)

Without knowing what equipment you have it's tough to advise completely.
If you are using cartridges that are pre-saturated with e-juice, that could be part of it.
I started with a Q510 kit that included pre-filled cartys, but I also ordered juice with it and went pretty much straight to direct dripping on the atomizer. The cartridges just didn't "do it" (as I intuited that they wouldn't)

The "ashtray" in the link is so like a cigarette, that my newly adjusted tastebuds couldn't deal with it. But, I can say as a smoker for 32 years, it's a cigarette.

Tell us what you're vaping on now, equipment wise :)

Passed the 9 month mark yesterday. Saw a crushed .... on the ground today and reached for the pack in my pocket. It wasnt there. I thought IF I had one, boy would I fire that sucker up. Passed quickly though, I remembered the stink and the cough and the cost......First time a thought like that popped into my head in almost 9 months.

East - My wife struggled until I mixed some hot cinnamon in a tobacco flavored juice. The extra bite added a bit of throat hit / harshness that helped her.

Haven't had an analog in 3 months. I've damn sure thought about it a few times but I controlled myself. It can be rough sometimes but you gotta try and soldier through it. It is so worth it. Not waking up with a sore throat every morning. Not feeling drained in the middle of the day. Being able to hit the gym and actually do cardio without having trouble breathing less than halfway through. I used to smoke while I was a football player in highschool. I'm talking like on my way to morning practices in the summer. .... was rough but I just couldn't stop. Vaping has improved my life considerably over the last few months and I really hope it works out for you where gum and patches didn't. Stay strong brother!

Get some strong menthol in strong mg/ml for those times when you really need a kick. It is ok to keep a cartomizer, or a cig a like, or even one of the old atty and cart combos sealed up safely for those weak moments. It will make all the difference to your chances if you have something available close by that you can vape that is above and beyond what you could normally vape.

these stronger mg and intense flavour experiences also have the added advantage that you can usually only manage 7 or 8 puffs before you cave in and throw the towel in as you do get a "thats enough for now" experience, where as chances are you would be able to vape on your day to day juice for a lot longer.

And yes, I still get this odd urge to smoke occasionally, it lasts seconds though as I usually treat as a call to arms and vape my head off lol.
