Finally!!!! Over 24 hours without smoking…I just may have made it! Earned a banner at last!

After what at times seemed to be a monumental and almost 3 month struggle (and I am still engaged in the good fight, I know it is not over yet, those cravings are still lying in wait for me), I am into day 2 of being smoke free !!!

I am thrilled beyond words, but am really not posting this for congratulations, but really to give some hope to others newbies here like me. If anyone remembers, I was originally a little discouraged reading all the threads and posts started by people who took one vape and were off cigarettes immediately. It was a bit daunting reading those stories and wondering why it wasn’t the same for me.

Have had my ups and downs too…many of them. Kept falling off the proverbially vaping wagon a few times in the past months, last time I took a tumble spectacularly, but climbed right back up and kept trying.

Finding the right juices, a real pain in the pocketbook and a real disappointment at times, and still searching but did find a couple of staples that hit the spot. The search continues but it is now not as urgent and is more fun. Well worth the effort. And by the way, that steeping advice is spot on for some flavors.

This is the first…now going on second …smoke free day I have experienced in thirty-six years (2-3 pack a day habit). No patch, gum, lozenges, or awful tasting SNUS has worked for me before this. Cold Turkey? A nightmare for me and everyone around me... I have tried just about everything before this and spent most of the time climbing the walls.

If I can do this…anyone can. Just take your time. As I said, my cravings are still here at times, but not like the other times with the aforementioned methods and not for nicotine. Manageable for me finally. I firmly believe there are other chemicals in cigarettes I am addicted to, but I can make the break now. It is my time.

Don’t be discouraged that others have done it easier and quicker, just go at your own pace. When it
is your time you will know it. :)

Congratulations!! That is a big success for you!!

My bad times are after eating and the word "never" that pops into my mind about cigarettes so needless to say I am still smoking some analogs. I have been vaping almost 2 months...seriously a few weeks so maybe I will get there also.

Again...a huge congratulations to you!

Congratulations!

go at your own pace is great advice. When i started i wasn't planning to quit smoking- but over about 6 weeks i worked my way through the learning curve, found my nic levels and flavors, and lost the desire for combustible ciggs. the beauty of vaping is that it doesn't have to be stressful or painful. and i have saved money- so it's possible. :) (and i haven't smoked for 11 months now)

Thanks for all the congratulations.

I did really post this thread to give some encouragement to the people here like me who have struggled like I have and not been lucky enough to vape once and be free.

I know you can do it, if I could Beachlover. Anyone could really. My bad times were (and still are but getting better I think) first thing in the morning and after meals too.

As I said when it is the right time for you, you will know it. It is not an easy thing to do for some of us. But do-able.

CONGRATULATIONS FELLOW NEWBIE! I had the same experience going back to analog, but only when I'd run out of my favorite liquids .....I'd take a hit off of a analog and wouldn't be satisfied anymore .......... I'm addicted to the throat hit! I ...personally... was never impressed or addicted to the taste of cigarettes ......the flavors offered with certain e liquids offer both TH and *FLAVOR* this I think is why the powers that be are weary, that it may attract non smokers and kids (ie. cotton candy flavorings?) . I think analogs taste like crap now. To each their own, but I seriously think that this if deemed completely safe, is the future. I just wish the COURTS will find that e~cigs are a safe or at least a better alternative! I'm stock piling just in case of a ban ....
I tried some awful juices but even the worst juices out there IMOO are healthier than analogs. I found 2 all day juices and unless they stop offering them I'm done smoking cigarettes. My brother had found his all day vape and they stopped making it and he's having a hard time replacing it but he found something similar..... good luck finding yours !

I am sooo happy for you. I was another one who took baby steps around giving them up. It took me almost 2 months to finally feel comfortable enough to the go for the first 24 hr. stretch. Then it took me another 6 wks. after that to feel comfortable enough to try going completely smoke free.

You're another great example of why we should all just keep on trying and not compare the length of time it takes us to others. Congratulations!
