Finally!!!! Over 24 hours without smoking…I just may have made it! Earned a banner at last!
After what at times seemed to be a monumental and almost 3 month struggle (and I am still engaged in the good fight, I know it is not over yet, those cravings are still lying in wait for me), I am into day 2 of being smoke free !!!
I am thrilled beyond words, but am really not posting this for congratulations, but really to give some hope to others newbies here like me. If anyone remembers, I was originally a little discouraged reading all the threads and posts started by people who took one vape and were off cigarettes immediately. It was a bit daunting reading those stories and wondering why it wasn’t the same for me.
Have had my ups and downs too…many of them. Kept falling off the proverbially vaping wagon a few times in the past months, last time I took a tumble spectacularly, but climbed right back up and kept trying.
Finding the right juices, a real pain in the pocketbook and a real disappointment at times, and still searching but did find a couple of staples that hit the spot. The search continues but it is now not as urgent and is more fun. Well worth the effort. And by the way, that steeping advice is spot on for some flavors.
This is the first…now going on second …smoke free day I have experienced in thirty-six years (2-3 pack a day habit). No patch, gum, lozenges, or awful tasting SNUS has worked for me before this. Cold Turkey? A nightmare for me and everyone around me... I have tried just about everything before this and spent most of the time climbing the walls.
If I can do this…anyone can. Just take your time. As I said, my cravings are still here at times, but not like the other times with the aforementioned methods and not for nicotine. Manageable for me finally. I firmly believe there are other chemicals in cigarettes I am addicted to, but I can make the break now. It is my time.
Don’t be discouraged that others have done it easier and quicker, just go at your own pace. When it
is your time you will know it.
