To preface: yes this is a pointless post. Mods feel free to delete, sorry I broke any rules that I'm not aware of. :)

After the never-ending negative posts, I figured I might as well post a stupid one. :)

So .. after somewhere around 2 years of vaping on and off and almost a year on the forum I was getting pretty bummed out reading all these stories about people getting stopped by police while or for vaping and not having any problems. As a possibly/probably crazy insomniac for over a decade I've been stopped driving and walking countless times and the police always seem a bit confused I was never doing anything wrong. Tonight .. it finally happened vaping .. I was walking my friend home and while doing a random spot/grid search we got stopped, asked where we coming from and after we both started vaping the officer remarked that we both had vaporizers and were on their way .. I know .. that was pretty anti-climatic, but finally being stopped by the police randomly and them knowing what I was doing and not caring at all ... felt good, like a completed vaping milestone.

I also wanted to post a quick thanks to Dusty_D and oldsoldier for killing the never ending threads, keeping the ECF a decent place to be and contributing so much time and energy to the vaping community. Now I just have to make it to a GTA meet and buy Dusty a drink. :toast:

Awww thanks Chagrin!! If you ever make it to the east-end of town, let me know and we can have a :toast:. I hook up with Fuzzione every now and again at a Pub in Pickering as they have their wings night on Wednesdays. Let me know if anyone is interested in coming out, and I can set something up.

No GTA meet called out for this month yet, huh?! Hmm.. reminder time for Happy Vaper to crawl out from under all those shipping boxes in his warehouse. :D

Ah, no problem Dusty .. credit where credit is due. :) As long as you don't let it go to your head.

Yeah, I've been stalking happyvaper's sub-forum and facebook page and I don't see any meets coming up this month. :( I live in the west (Roncesvalles Village/High Park Area) and rarely drive and never to a bar :)evil:), so the GTA meet up is an insane trek for me. I made it to the first downtown meet on St. Clair which was pretty sparse because of Thanksgiving and I think "competing" with the VERY well established GTA meet didn't help. I'd really like to regular to the downtown meet, if it continues and get to the GTA one occasionally.

I couldn't make the second downtown meet, because I was in the hospital with someone the day before, but I'm dying to know how it went - I hope it went a bit better and they're still considering the staggered second downtown meet - even if we don't get the same showing for quite a while - I hope it's given at least a few more tries before they give up on it.

I'll make it to the GTA meet some day, I just have to plan ahead and call in a favour for a DD or *gasp* as a last resort, stay sober.

Nah,not planning any ''coming out'' sometimes soon,I like what I am

Haha .. not that type of "coming out". :p But if you're ever in the area around the time of a vape meet, I've love to see your vape gear that I could I never justify/afford buying mysef and I'd guess you know 10x + the amount that I do about hardware. :) I love reading all your crazy new hardware posts from Russia. :)

doing a random spot/grid search

Great Scott!! when did they start that? I have not been to Toronto since '99. I used to travel down from Timmins Ontario {Insert Northern Ontario jokes here} from '96 to '99 practically on a two month schedule.

Let me know if anyone is interested in coming out, and I can set something up.
Ironically i have been considering Toronto for plans to......well you know. It may be a tight schedule, but if your up to meeting the semi smart, completely odd fur ball i will let you know the when and what time i am headed that way

As long as i avoid Montreal. Honestly within the first eight minutes of being there for the first time in my life, i had walked into a gas station that was just robbed, so when i walked out the cops thought i was the one who did it .................. it did not end well....but proves i am the Pinnacle of innocence..... trouble happens to just find me :D

You mean traverse Pearson before you ... *gasp* .. go to the dark side and are Americanized ? :p God .. not Montreal .... er I mean .. looks like a lovingly place, but driving through was insanity, traffic at 120-130 km/h through a 90 km/h curving highway, with 25% less width than Ontario with mergers left and right .. argh. In all honesty though, I'd love to visit, but my last experience was driving through in rush hour going to Fredericton was a bit crazy for me. :)

PM me any time with the details if you're going through Toronto and I'll see what I can do, but I'll give it at a 50/50 at best without knowing any details. :) But I wouldn't mind meeting the Wolf before he's lost to us Canadians ...foooorever,

Not sure to answer that with any tack....so i will say is when it comes to how my wife looks :w00t: heh heh funny part is, hunny bunny already told me i am not allowed to run through any of the airports naked with a plunger on my head yelling i'm a squid. In fact she has already said i am not allowed to create my own fun.....i swear it is like she knows me or something.....

There is a joke about Quebec & Montreal and road signs. remind me to tell you about it. It was told to me by a a good looking woman from Quebec years ago....(hey i may be married but i still know the good looking ones :p)

But I wouldn't mind meeting the Wolf before he's lost to us Canadians.

Throwing a party to say you are getting rid of that idiot does not count......hey wait a minute i mean.......

I've been stopped driving and walking countless times

Wow...am I the only one who's concerned by this? Is it considered normal for public servants to randomly stop Canadian citizens and question them about what they're doing.

What the hell are random spot/grid searches?....just...Wow. Total civil rights violations happening here.

Maybe it's because I'm from a small town, but I find this quite disturbing.

Section 9 of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, found under the "Legal rights" heading in the Charter, guarantees the right against arbitrary detainment and imprisonment. The provision is invoked in the criminal law context generally where a police officer who stops, detains, arrests or otherwise restrains a suspect without reasonable grounds.

Sorry guys, I probably stated that a bit wrong and exaggerated. Last night something was definitely up in my friend's neighbourhood which isn't a great area at night and there were a handful of cars looking for someone I'd guess. I'm sure we could have got them to told them what had happened if we asked. It's a bit annoying, but reasonable to me - I've ended up in some weird areas aimless driving/walking in the past. I've been told robberies had happened in the area recently, it's a common place for people to drink, etc and I've even been stopped and told I ended up in bad area of town and should probably leave. :) I also match the generic suspect profile as a rule; tall, thin-medium build, dark clothing ... that or I look very suspicious.

I grew up in a small town and *that* was unreasonable at few times .. I swear for a bit, if you were driving past 11-12 with no clear destination and under 25, it was 50/50 whether you'd get stopped to see if you were up to no good.

I tend to give the police the benefit of the doubt in this regard. I don't have anything to hide and it does work to my benefit as well. They do keep me, my family and my stuff safe.

Agreed.

I was once stopped cuz the cop thought I was texting while driving. I was adjusting the watts on my gripper. She was cool about it & asked to see my device.

I got all excited with yet another opportunity to convert someone

Speaking of bad neighborhoods. Late one night, I got lost in Detroit and ended up in a not so nice neighbourhood. Police pulled me over to find out what was going on. I explained and he gave me the directions for the quickest route out and told me to ignore red lights if I could do it safely.

I was happy camper to have the police stop me.
