Noob here (duh) and I just opened my Volt kit. WOAH!! I totally get the whole vaping thing now and can see some serious spendage in my future. Tanks, mods, VV, drips blah blah blah. Not good...
Hi, my name is Derek, I'm 36 and an EX smoker of 20+ years. Story is my life in recent weeks has been a living nightmare to the point of a near miss heart attack. Stress induced anxiety with related heart issues (high cholesterol, high blood pressure and some blockage). My body was giving me signs "hey buddy, time to quit smoking and start a more healthy way of life". Yeah, I have to somehow, someway, give up the nic as well. But how? It's a way of life for me. A morning, after every meal and before bedtime ritual. How? E-cigs? Wait, I remember seeing these things in gas stations what the heck is it about? Could it possibly work? The patch failed. So did gum and that hypnotist 8 years ago was a $200 shot in the dark that was a joke. What the heck I'll give these silly electronic cigs an honest boyscout try.
So about a weeks ago or so I ran to walmart and grabbed a NJoy and a pack of carts. BLEH!!! These things are terrible, don't resemble nor feel/taste like an analog but hey, I MUST try something. On what planet does a cigarette taste like this? (little did I know what was to come). So I began some online research and wow my head was about to explode! Talk about a saturated market sheesh. Searching brought me here and it was a relief. Thanks!
After hours upon hours of reading this and watching that I decided on the Smokeless Image Volt along with a few sampler cart packs. I didn't want to go all crazy and start out sucking on a big fat er..womans pleasure device lol. I wanted to keep it simple and you know, cigarette experience like. Hey I'm new to this gotta take baby steps. My last Njoy cart was shot (didnt njoy a thing about it btw). Heck I think I burned through those in just a few short days. 2 days ago I picked up an Imperial disposable to hold me over until my VOLT arrived. the imperial decided to die during my lunch hour right after my meal. Crap, now the cravings were really kicking hard and so I cheated...sort of.
I bummed a smoke off a co-worker who totally gave in as he is NOT supposed to let me have any analogs. 2 drags in and holy shiat that thing tasted like azz. I gave him a quarter for the cig and put it right out. Less than 2 weeks without a cigarette and I couldn't believe what had just happened. It was bad...really bad. My hand stunk, my clothes, the aftertaste oh my how on earth did I smoke these things for 20+ years?#@!! Now I really wanted to get home and open up that Volt and pray it will work!
I raced home, snatched the package out of the mailbox and did my after work ritual. YES!! The batts are charged! Screwed on a RY4 that everyone talks about and was amazed. NO WAY!! It throat hits like a cigarette. It vapes like a real one and ya know what it tasted pretty dang nice too. This is SO going to work. E-cigs are going to save my life and help me kick this awful habit once and for all. At that very moment I popped open every single sample and took a few tokes off each one. This is so awesome I love it.
And then...it hit me. vaping only gets better from here. This is just a noob starter type kit to help ween me off the analog habit right? Oh boy. I am going to spend a fortune on mods and upgrades and my wife is going to kill me I can see it now. But I totally get it. This whole vaping thing that is.

I loved your story! The volt and smokeless image is an excellent place to start! Whether you spend loads or not is up to you, but where you are right now is awesome! Enjoy your current set up, relax and read before you move on.
