Hi guys I got a Sigelei 30w mini + Mini Protank III. The stuff will arrive in like 3 days.
I'm new to this stuff so how many watts or volts should I start using it? Any other noob advice???
The Sig 30W was a good choice as it is somewhat future proof due to sub-ohm ability, however you probably should have gone with a Kanger Subtank nano (or mini, but that's bigger). The protank tech is pretty old, so much better options available these days. The subtanks (especially mini/nano) are the newest tanks from Kanger and are absolutely game changing. Replaceable coils just like the protank, but MUCH better vaping experience. Some even say the subtanks are as close as a tank has ever come to flavor when compared to dripping, and I can tell you from experience that the clouds it produces (even with a 1.2 ohm head) is absolutely astonishing. Plus with the mini you also get a RBA platform in case you ever decide to go that route (included in the package).
I have been in and out of vaping for years now, never finding anything that was satisfying. I keep trying every year or so hoping to find a combination that works for me. And let me tell you, once I tried the subtank mini I immediately thought to myself "Oh my gosh... I have finally arrived!". My last setup over a year ago was with the same coil heads that the protank uses, it was alright but
nowhere near as awesome as the subtanks are.
I highly encourage you to get yourself a subtank mini or nano (around $35). Just watch some youtube reviews on it and you will be convinced, everybody seems to love it (myself included). It's almost the perfect setup in every way imaginable, it's easy to clean, comes with spare glass, heads, RBA platform (for the mini), uses cotton (best flavor), has large airflow for direct lung inhale (this is where the clouds come into play, never have I been able to blow such immense clouds before), selectable airflow, looks great, uses a standard driptip (so you can use whatever driptip you want), etc etc etc. Even has options to buy heads that have nickel wire for when temperature controlled mods become the new standard (much like VW is now). The heads also seem to last a really long time, and 5 packs are only about $12.
I'm telling you, as somebody who has been quite unsatisfied with vaping over the years, I have been absolutely floored by the subtanks (I have the mini and nano). And it amazes me these things aren't selling for $60+ each, as even the attention to detail and construction on them is mind bogglingly good.
EDIT: I also have a tip for you, avoid high nic liquids if you go the subtank route. The subtanks are insanely efficient, anything over 6mg (12, 18, etc) is EXTREMELY harsh, especially with 0.5ohm coils. I made the mistake of getting 18mg liquid when i first tried the subtank mini, and my goodness, never again! Tried some 6mg on 1.2 ohm coils (at 22W) and that was absolutely perfect, not harsh in the least (was actually so smooth I didn't think I was getting any vape) and could blow giant clouds without feeling like my throat was getting cut with razor blades. Flavor was amazing either way, but high nic is very peppery and scorches the throat like crazy. I'm trying some 12mg juice right now on a 0.5ohm head, and it's still way too harsh.
And last tip. In general, you will likely get the best results if you stick with a 70vg/30pg ratio (or thereabouts depending on how thick a vendors VG is). Most cases it's mot too thick, and not too thin (for a tank). Too thin and you get the issue of flooding, plus PG is much more harsh on the throat. Higher VG liquids is where it's at, bigger clouds, smoother vape, and less problems overall. Just don't get too high a VG, as some tanks won't wick properly and you will get dry hits.
