Finally worked out the kinks with my 7.4 volt wood mod. Take a peek and see what you think.

Very nice!! Lets see the guts. Also where did you find the display?

I got a 3.0 amp momentary switch, a square blue LED light with 4 leads, the end of the atomizer casing (threads), a tiny grommet with a pin from a previous cartomizer through it, and two 3.7 volt CR2 Ultra-Fire batteries. The display I bored out from a soft would block I bought from Micheal's Art Supplies.

What kind of wood? poplar? Basswood? Also did you top coat it with a sealer? Looks like raw wood to me.nice job!

I don't know for sure what kind of wood it is but it is extremely soft wood I got from Micheal's Art Supplies. I bought some stain but I didn't like the color when I tested it out so I left it plain wood.

I believe its one of the woods I mentioned. Those woods and woods similar are hard to stain because of blotching. I suggest picking up a can of high gloss lacquer spray can. spray the first coat on and when it dries sand lightly smooth. Then follow up with 4-5 coats. Let dry 30 min between coats. If you leave it bear wood it'll get nasty looking in a short time.

I got a can of clear gloss I can use on it. That will protect it from smudging and juice leak, spill marks on the mod. I'll use that.

Great housing. And very compact for a wooden one. How did you make the cavity? Dremel bits or what? If possible, describe the technique with details.

No Dremel. I was thinking about getting one it would have worked a lot better with more precision. I spaced everything out that was going to need a drill hole and when I thought it would work I just used a regular power drill starting on the bottom. I drilled the outside edges with a hole for each side measuring how far I could drill without drilling all the way to the top. Then just slowly bored out the cavity being careful not to make any unwanted holes. I continued to do that until I could fit both batteries side by side in the bottom. Then drilled the holes for the atomizer, switch, and LED. I manually carved each to fit as tight and clean as possible after the initial drill hole. Then I wired everything but the batteries and pushed the excess wires through their respective drill holes first before setting the components in their drill holes and ran the wires I needed to connect to the batteries down through the bottom. Cut off the excess and connected to the batteries. That is pretty much it I guess. :)
