Ok, I've been studying electronics recently, primarily reading PDFs of books I downloaded. Since I'm not in a class or have a straight forward method of studying and 'Figuring Out' Electronics it may take me awhile to grasp what is going on. The one thing I don't have a problem with is Math and Algebra. I tutored math for the better part of my college career; primarily Algebra in High Schools. So no matter what you throw at Math wise I'm good with.

All I really want to see for my brain's benefit to deconstruct a diagram and work through the math in my head... if anyone would be so kind to draw a simple circuit that has two batters or at least 7.4V or 6.0V. I'm wondering how someone who stacks or has two batteries can reduce the Voltage to a More Workable 5 Volts?

So for instance the power source is 7.4 Volts; how do I go from that power source, through a switch and resistors and whatever else may be used to choke off that 1.4 volts?

I also have a good friend who is a master wood worker. He's going to help me out making a few box mods with some good wood. I have a butcher block design in mind.

I have just the opposite problem - I've been doing electrical work for 7 years and have a decent understanding of electronics/electricity, but am lacking in the math department. Never paid attention in algebra in high school and now I kick myself!

The bulk of my learning has been through curiosity, wondering how certain components/parts work and just googling it. Though recently I've found this book extremely helpful: Teach Yourself Electricity and Electronics: Stan Gibilisco: 0639785330844: Amazon.com: Books compared to other beginner's books I've read, it's a LOT easier to follow and understand. Plus there's a whole section on power supplies / voltage regulation which is great.

For regulating voltage, your best bet is the ptr08060 or okr-t/6. They use few external components, are over 80% efficient and have some safety features built-in
