I Grew Up! (Well, a little...)

I got me an eLeaf 20W iStick Mod w/an Innokin T22 tank w/Prism attys. I L<3VE IT!! I do have some basic questions that maybe a YouTube vid could answer, but then all my fellow vapers are here!!

If it maxes to 20W, what should I be at Wattage wise for 12mg 70/30? Should I be thinkin' about moving down in mgs? Or is that for more extensive mods? I'm still kinda new at this but considering I grew up from a Joyetech EGO AiO, I'm feeling pretty damned proud of myself. :banana:This is a freaking nice set-up and guess what? I think I stole it- $15 for mod AND tank!!!!

I did notice it doesn't seem to have the ability to adjust the air flow, but then I really don't feel like I'm missing anything. The air flow adjustment on the Joyetech EGO AiO drove me nuts, constantly spinning around. It vapes pretty darned well. I'm loving that the Prism coil has a reputation from what I've read to last a LONG time even with chain-vapers. Am I reading that correct? Oh- why does it read 1.6ohm coil on the LED when they take 1.5ohm coils? Educate me on having a box mod. :rules:

Help me out here with this issue::matrix:

Bought my son a used Kanger Tech box mod with a tank that takes SSOCC Coils. He was trying to fill it and busted the coil. I kinda got on to him for not at least watching a YouTube on how to care for it because I've read that on some builds this can happen when you're trying to work with a bottom fill tank. Is his type of tank one that can do rebuildables? I'm thinking about getting the supplies and learning with him how to build coils.

Awaiting your input.:pop:

Happy vaping!! :vapor:

Yes the ohm readings on a factory coil can be off a bit nothing to worry about. What I do is start at low watts and slowly work up till I hit my sweet spot. With a 20 watt device I would stay at the coil resistance you are running. On the coil question depends on tank if it is the subtank nano then no if it is the mini or plus there is a rebuild able coil head.

I wouldn't worry about that at all. Factory coils are mass produced at a very high rate. Slight variances are common. Just as total dud coils are to be expected. Also mods aren't the most accurate ohm readers by a long shot.

Careful of the 510 threads on the I20. They can get messed up quickly so some use that ego connector that may come with. Good mod, great price.

There is also an optional thingy that screws on to the threads and allows the tank to flip over the side, making it shorter. Adding that and leaving it on all the time will help the threads also.

I don't think that the Prism tank will take 20watts?? If I was going to 20, I'd drop the nic but everyone has diff needs.

    Have fun!

Yeah, I've never had mine that high. Depending on vaping style, I'd guess that you could start getting a burnt taste as low 16 or 17 watts.

OP, Innokin sets their fixed wattage kits for this tank to 14 watts (I think 13.6, to be exact). I'd start at 8 or 9 and work up slowly. I like them around 10.

Since I posted last, I decided I don't like my mod as much. I'm a vape-a-holic and I've decided to go with an RTA. I know this means I'll have to get a different mod and tank, but my son has convinced to learn how to build my own coils or at the least buy coils and thread cotton. But, I don't wanna be constantly dripping so that's why I wanna do an RTA. He has an RDA and doesn't mind constantly dripping- would drive me nuts. Any idea'ers?? :glug:

you don't need a new mod....is there any real reason you would want to vape over 20w?
The watts are all a personal taste....me i'm what they call a tootle puffer ;) I stay below 15w...usually around 8 or 9 actually and am quite happy, i don't much care for a hot vape, a little warm maybe but room temp is just fine....
as for a new atty, there again that's up to taste, what is it exactly that you do/don't like about your current one....or what would you prefer more from your vape, and then maybe folks could suggest something to better suit your needs. as for making your own coils, eh, again personal taste and time....

We tried to put my son's Kangertech subox mini tank on my mod and it wouldn't recognize it. But, it will recognize a 1.5ohm coil from my Innokin T22. My husband suggested we try an RTA before buying a whole new set up too but then I remembered what it did with my son's tank. So, we put his RDA on and it reads "No Atomizer."

what was the ohm on your sons coil? The 20w will only fire at 1 ohm and above....it's not meant to be a sub ohm (below 1) device....
any rta, rda...any coil under 1 will not fire....so then yes if you are wanting to sub ohm you will need a new device....if you are content with vaping above 1ohm then your device is fine.

The Innokin is the first one I've ever had that's been above 1.0ohm so probably explains why I'm not caring for it as much. And, yes my son's is a sub-ohm.
