The nub only slightly protrudes from the top end, and there is a gap cut in the frame as though made to account for this. The contact is close enough that even when locked, the button can depress enough to make contact.

That is the mounting bracket for the spring, or spring base.

That's good man. Just wanted to add that using those 14250's might be the reason for that problem since it's probably longer than a single 14500 batt. Either way, vaping at 6V with a mini is worth it IMO.
