I'm new to the forum. I have a kangertech aerotank 1. And it has the new coil style in it. I have read that it is normal for it to read a 1.8 ohm coil as a 1.9 ohm, but my problem is when I take a long drag is has a burnt taste. I just put the coil in today. I run it at 7.7 to 9.0 wattage. Is this normal and okay? I don't want to burn anything up. I really haven't found my sweet spot yet.

There are a few problems with the istick 20 watt in regards to it's circuitry (it measures mean not RMS). It is not capable of down regulating power (it is widely inaccurate, especially at lower voltages). The istick 20 watt can't output voltages between 3v and 4.2 volts even though the display says it can and is.

Here is a table that shows you really what is going on.

It means that with the freshly charged battery and a 1.8ohm coil the minimum wattage you're going to get is 9.8W regardless of your lower setting. You won't get down to that 7.7W until the battery is half way discharged.

Voltage multiplied by Voltage divided by resistance will tell you the wattage.

So 4.2 X 4.2 / 1.8 = 9.8W

There is no way to make it run at a lower wattage with a fully charged battery with that coil.

If you are getting a burnt taste (we call those "dry hits"), if usually means your wick cannot pull the eliquid fast enough to keep up with your battery/wattage. Take a sharp draw (or two) on your drip tip (without engaging your battery). This will pull more eliquid into the coil so that it will be available when you press the battery button and take a draw.

Oh okay, I am getting a aspire nautilus soon. I'm going to get 1.6ohm coils. I have heard it does better with the istick 20W.
Perfect!

The Nautilus (and Mini Nautilus) works very well on the iStick 20 watt. Ideally you want the "BVC's for Nautilus" when you go to purchase coils. The original Nautilus (full size) came with BDC's (bottom dual coils). If the vendor you purchase from has old stock, your Nautilus will come with these.

The easiest way to troubleshoot an istick 20w is to buy an istick 30w. Extra power and actual proper regulation so you can use it on anything and not get burnt hits. I have the 50w and love it. Was a gift from the lady for making it a year without smoking. But yesterday I decided to get a 30w as well as a present to myself. They're just easier to carry around.

That's the one I'm going to get. The full size BVC with BVC replacement coils.
Check out Sweet Vapes.

Last time I checked they had the BVC's for $10/5 pack. I'm sure they carry the full sized nautilus as well.

I've been waiting for them to get the FreeMax Starre Pro & Sigelei 75 watt.

It really does say something for the good old Nautilus, even after a year, it is still a good tank for mouth to lung...but in saying that..

@Matty102, I would be doing you a disservice if I didn't mention the Subox Starter kit, with the 1.5 ohm coil it is great as a mouth to lung, great flavour and the new vertical coils work very well...it also gives you more options too, if you ever fancied trying sub ohm for instance, all you will need is a 0.5ohm coil..Of course this will work out a little more expensive as you would need a 18650 battery and a charger (I wouldn't recommend the on board one, I don't trust them)..
My moto is, better to cry once and spend the money than cry a number of times ..

I will have to work on getting me some money for a 30W. Would a 50W be even better?
Having either of these will not fix your problem with the Nautilus.
and now my aspire nautilus coils are flooding. I'm about to give up. I might just let it gruggle. Tired of trying, and that's been a lot of money. All of it was certified real ones..... Blah!!
Don't give up yet.:)

First, to fix a flooded atomizer take your tank off the battery and blow through the mouthpiece (covering the airflow hole). This will drain the extra eliquid.

When you inhale, take a long smooth draw vs a short sharp draw. This will prevent extra eliquid from being pulled into your coils and flooding it. Inhalation technique with an e-cigarette

Whenever you first sense that your atomizer is beginning to flood try this:

1. Open up the airflow so when you take a hit you are not pulling in as much juice into your coils.
2. Raise your voltage or wattage. This will vaporize more eliquid.
3. Tip your battery up (and take a few hits). By tipping it up you will prevent more eliquid from being fed into the coils.

Give one or all of these a try.:)
