I want to encourage you, Nathan, but must point out a few problems:
You state flatly: "E-Cigarettes are a form of (Nicotine Replacement Therapy), just like nicotine gum or the patch." That is untrue and could get e-smoking in a world of regulatory trouble. The gum and patch are products of Big Pharmaceutical and underwent extensive and expensive clinical testing before obtaining FDA approval to be marketed. The e-cig is a Chinese toy, with no regulations to follow. It's wonderful, but don't compare e-smoking to NRT. As Trog once wrote, "It's nicotine replacement, not therapy." Your NRT sentence needs removal.
You also say, "E-
juice is a combination of Nicotine, Propylene Glycol (produces the vapor), and flavoring." True in some, but not all, cases. You can obtain PG-free liquid from Johnson Creek and Sedansa says it will no longer use PG in its liquids. Plus, there are a lot more chemicals in
e-liquid. A lot more! Look at the lists provided by both Ruyan and E-Cig.
A bit further into the discussion, you say, "I want to make sure you understand that electronic cigarettes are not a proven way to quit smoking. There have been no tests done to show that they can or cannot help someone Quit smoking." Bravo, that's a true statement. But, if they're not for quitting, they surely aren't like the gum and patch, which are marketed as quit devices, not for long-term use.
The bottom line on my advice is to greatly expand this "ultimate" book. We have e-cigs and cigars now that are true disposables, with the atomizer in the cartridge. The entry of Smoke51 is changing our world. You need to address that product that most consumers will see in a mall kiosk.
You need a section with at least specs on the variety of popular e-cigs. Photos would be great for that section, as well, so a reader can see the difference between a 901 and a Kissbox.
As you read e-cigarette-forum.com, note how it is organized. Smokey Joe did a great job a year ago, and your book can pick up his format. No piece on e-smoking can be complete with extensive discussion of the legal and health issues, for instance. And note somewhere that you CANNOT just e-smoke anywhere. You may use your
device only at the pleasure of a property owner. Airlines are already banning these things. Some bars have done the same.
It might be beyond the scope of what you want to do, but a section on nicotine facts would be useful. Kate has done a good job of profiling nicotine on e-cigtest.com. My own article on e-smoking is also posted on that site.
Good luck with future additions. Nice first stab at it.
