Three smokers I tried to convert over a year ago. None showed ANY interest, well, not any real interest. Suddenly, I have the below to work with:

#1
A woman who was going to be a "die with a cig in her hand" person. HEAVY smoker. Suddenly she has gone three weeks without a cig. Saw her with a chrome blinky tube of sorts (some china job) with a tank on it. She is my first target. The beginning of success. She will be back in a heartbeat once things start failing is my worry.

#2
A friend who took advice he remembered from a year ago when I was holding either a provari or zmax. Another blinky tube mod. Still smoking a little, and has already complained about juice cost. ($1/ml)

#3
His wife got him a mail order. Called firestorm or something, so I suspect I will recognize it as a blinky tube. Not yet started, I am going to have him see if he can return. Bet he has enough invested to pay most of the startup on a reo that he can get back.

Things I suspect of all three:
-no backups
-no research or desire to
-none will treat it as a hobby
-they all paid too much based on my first two points and will continue to if I don't help

I'm going to set up two grands as loaners. I have plenty of batteries, and a charger at work. I can charge and swap all they need. I'm going to find out the power level and resistance of their stuff and post here my coil estimation to see if people agree. I'll use silica wick so I don't turn them off as cotton burners, they can try that later once I hook them. I'm going to tell them about rebuilding coils, but let them know they need to just try the reo first, I can show them coils later. Once they find out that $10 in materials will carry them a LONG time, it may sway them.

I'm going to print out an RTD order with an xtar and two batteries, and a reo order with a grand and RM2. No springs or rebuild kits, I have lots and will have more when the sub ohm kits hit. I am sure I have at least 5 cards from Rob, they will get one each. Around here, that whole setup is less than a month of cigs. I will drive that point home if they go to a reo or not. If they don't, I will be handing out a lot of toppers I still have around that I had good luck with.

For juice, I need some help. I DIY and haven't bought any in over a year. I need suggestions of vendors who are reasonable cost and quality. ECBLends is the only one I remember that I used and would use again. I just woke up with the idea less than two hours ago...so I will re-read this later and see if I am missing something. Comments and suggestions are always welcome.

The chart of gauge/wraps/resistance HERE might help.

It's a very good thing you're doing for these folks, they just don't know it yet :)

Got it bookmarked and thanks to a little present I have wire samples to get whatever they need.

Sounds like a good plan. Maybe just start them out with unflavored nic?

I am going to mention it, but I was thinking for this I will let them use their own juice. Keep it familiar unless they aren't happy with it.

I'd build to a lower ohm than they are currently vapping. If I had no clue I'd pick a 1.2 to 1.4 micro out of 28 ga as a good starting point.

That's where I expect to go...pretty standard IMO. But, they may have something where that will kick too hard. Might need to work them into starting closer to 2 ohms if they have junk and don't like mine. I did come up with another idea from that. I can bring disposable tips in and let them try mine before I build for them.

Plus, I have stuff to build and test at my desk, so I can change in a day if they need.

I have a hard time paying over 0.55 /ml! do B&Ms really charge $1/ml?!

as for juice suggestions, where I can only be of help at this point, Nicoticket has a variety of flavors, and the 30ml is 0.50/ml and the 50ml (60) is 0.37/ml

of they're using RM2s, any juice can (needs to) be cut- found that out pretty fast!

I think it's a wonderful thing you're doing for these people. Cheers to that :toast:

I'd say a nice 1.5 ohm 28 gauge micro would be a good place to start - it's in the neighbourhood of a lot of factory coil units (e.g., Kanger), it's safe for general use, and come the time, easy for them to build.

Good idea to use silica to avoid the potential cotton issues, but if they take to using the reo, you might need to educate them on cotton as I find it an easier option, ultimately.

To get the juice dialed in for their needs, maybe drip a selection for them of varying nic levels (in the RM2, before committing to a full bottle). We all know that coils and voltages change the TH and satisfaction of any juice, but they will not, and will probably need to experiment. Hard to anticipate their needs in a vape.

Again, you're a saint for doing this.

Completely agree with Papa_Lazarou this is a very worth while effort you are making.

May you find riches and rewards at your door.

I keep working on a few peeps at work but the mod and tank I gave them seems to stay in their pocket more often than not. Hmmmm. I need a new tactic. Wish I could get them REO.

i'd go with silica since one dry burn will not kill the wick!

RY4 is a good idea, that and NEMP is all HRH will use., but my suggestion is you let them buy a flavour themselves - so that it becomes a partnership between your hardware and their favourites - if they like to pay over $1/ml then ofc 5 Pawns can accommodate them!

I am right there with you... I am thinking that once Sweetness arrives, it does not mean that Precious will be staying home... I think Precious will still go with me... and will be the here try her out see if you like it... idk though... it is after all

Thanks for more juice sources!

My main goal on juice is to show them "how to fish". As much as I like supporting locals, everyone needs options. If locals cost as much as I was told, it'll drive these guys away...so I want them to have options and the locals can fill gaps. I want them choosing, but I want them to see the world.

Also, the three different coils idea from FB is good, and EASY since if I have three reos with me, they are already all different :)

Vapers just starting out with starter kits, or egos and clearos, are usually not that fussy about the ohms of their coil, or the airhole size, because they don't know much about it yet. They are just trying to get into vaping. Their gear usually doesn't deliver the flavour or vapor production of a Reo/RM2 combo, so anything that works considerably better than what they have would be welcome. I would be inclined to go just a bit hotter than their existing setup, say 1.6 or 1.7 ohms. 30g on 1/16" drill bit, 8 turns, (and is what I still use). Remember the Ego batts are usually set at 3.6V output so the Reo's going to deliver a bit more than that to whatever ohm coil they were using before. Plus the microcoil adds to the efficiency, and the RM2 gives heaps better flavour. I'd keep it simple, give them the 1.7 ohm coil, and ask them to come back and see you if it doesn't do what they want it to. If they come back you can ask more questions to see what they want. The risk is overloading them with info and choices at the start. Instead you could just show them how to drive it, and send them on their merry way. Usually the first puff where they see a heap of vapor released puts a smile on their face :) You are doing these people a great service, I hope they appreciate it.

Because I WAS one of those people only about 4 months ago, I can still remember what it was like. If someone asked me what ohms coil do you want on your Reo, I would reply with "do you speak English?"
