If you are getting a burnt taste (we call those "dry hits"), if usually means your wick cannot pull the eliquid fast enough to keep up with your battery. There are a couple of things you can do:

1. Dial down your voltage. This will vaporize the eliquid at a slower rate.
2. Take a sharp draw (or two) on your drip tip (without engaging your battery). This will pull more eliquid into the coil so that it will be available when you press the battery button and take a draw.

You will get the feel of this over time and develop a sense of how often you will need to do this to avoid "dry hits". The PG/VG ratio of your eliquid also comes into play, as VG is thicker than PG .

I find the best way to keep mine from drying out is to 'pulse' the button so that half the time you're drawing, it's not on. That helps suck liquid into the wick, and keeps the coil from heating up too much. It can be a real pain to get the length right though, since batteries have the '5-click' feature so if you pulse too fast it just turns off, unless you have a mod.

I use a emow mega clearo with a 1600 mah vv battery.. I've been through about 3 coils already. Could the voltage be too high? I just don't know. It tastes great for a day or two, and then it just gets to be all dry. Even when the clearo tank is filled.

I am not familiar with the emow, but it's normal with clearos to gunk up the coil over a few days of usage

especialy with THICK, DARK eliquids.

You can extend the life of the coils with cleaning.

I use protank type, and simply rewick with cotton;
dryburn and rewick; 5 minutes.
