Hi all. Just started using an e-cig about 4 weeks ago, haven't touched a regular cigarette since which was my goal. I know some switch for health, convenience, cost, smell, and all kinds of reasons. Personally I wanted to quit cigarettes and have failed about 10 times over years until now. First try with an e-cig and I'm really enjoying it.

I've gone through the usual trying 2-3 different batteries. A few companies cartomizers and just recieved my first bottle of juice and refilled a few carts. v4l clove.....absolutely love this flavor, it's what made switching over possible for me along with my v4l shorty manual batteries which are the ones I find fit me best. Their customer service is also beyond what you find most places in america these days.

To my question. Through this trial and error as well as reading these forums and watching a lot of youtube videos I think I've figured out what I want and I was hoping some of the knowledgeable people around here might be able to tell me what fits my wants.

I will be using my v4l shorty in ppc for my at work and out and about hardware, it works for me. But at home I really enjoy my passthrough, i find it gives me...deeper flavor...for lack of a better way to describe it. So here's what I'm looking for.

-I'd like a 5v unit, or variable. I would prefer not to have the 3.7/6 because i've heard 6 can burn some carts as well as a few other reasons.

-long battery life and portable. problem with the passthrough is I can't take it to the couch, also my charger is only a room away but a bat that last all day sunday at home would be nice.

-flat finish. this isn't a sticking point for me but I would like a unit that has a textured finish instead of just bare metal.

-something I can use 808 cartomizers on specifically some of those clearomizers. I don't want to have to get different carts for my different devices for ease. I don't mind using an adapter as long as it will fit without being "wonky" I have a stealth 510 to 808 adapter...not sure if it will work because it didn't seem to work when i tried to put v4l carts on a blue with it, they fit but I couldn't pull anything.

Thank you in advance for the advice. basically i'm looking for something that can use all the same carts that I use for my "out of the house" set up, but at 4.5v or 5v with a longer battery life.

Sounds to me like you need to go to a variable volt mod like the Buzz or ProVari. If money is an issue, the Buzz is cheaper (almost half the price of a ProVari), and works just the same without all the bells and whistles. I have 5 Buzz's and love them. Each one is set a different voltage for different types of juices/cartomizers. Battery life will last about 8 hours for moderate vaping. I get less time because it's glued to my face all the time...I vape 6-7ml a day. The ProVari will last about 24 hours with heavy use on the 18650 battery but again, it's expensive.

Madvapes carries a VV mod box for $35 plus shipping. I don't own one but so far I've heard good things about them. It takes 2 14500 batteries.

Thanks for the welcome. been browsing for a while, finally decided to post. I am a big fan of v4l now. I really hope they get a new kind of pcc sometime soon though. I would kill for a pcc that holds a fully assembled shorty with cart, an extra shorty on charger, and a spare cart....was smart so you didn't have to keep an eye on it to unscrew the charging batt.

I looked at the buzz, unfortunately it looks like notcig is out of stock on that and the infinity, hope they get some more soon.

Notcigs is coming out with new versions of the Buzz and Infinity. They'll have longer battery life than the previous version. The new Buzz will be coming out within the next few weeks and few more weeks after that the new Infinity. There's plenty of options out there for 5v and VV, it just comes down to how much you're willing to spend. If you have a price range, that would help with suggestions.

You can get an IGo at Nhaler. It is an 808 like your V4L batteries but it's larger and the cartos hold 3ml, I think. I love my Vapor4Life setup (XL manual batteries and 24mg WowCoffee cartos) but like you, I sometimes get tired of having to switch out the batteries.

I forgot to add that the cartos from V4L work on the IGo.

You are already using 3.7v.

Vapor4Life is KR808D-1 which is a true 3.7v device, a rarity in minis

Battery tests here - KR808D-1 has more voltage than most anything else cylindrical including Ego
http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/joye-510/65055-battery-voltages-surprise.html

So if you get less than 3.7 volts you will get less heat than you currently have.

I heard the vapor4life cartos do very well on variable voltage - somebody used them on their Provari w/ a 510 to 808 adapter. You could get a little vv box to try. And if you have enough posts, check the ECF classifieds for some good deals. And there is a mod suppliers forum with deals too I think. But you do not have enough posts. You need 5 non-spammed posts or replies in new Members and wait an hour

I'll jump on the VV bandwagon here too. If you want to try it out first, get the VV box mod at madvapes. It'll be a good backup, if you find you like it. You might want to pick up one of their assembled voltmeter's too. You don't really need it but, it's nice to check and see what voltage you find you are liking.

There are a lot of Provari and Darwin fans out there but, really I think they are overkill. In some instances they are too sophisticated to work well. I'll recommend the almost out buzz pro for durabilty, features, and price.

Well MR, I obviously disagree with you on the variable volt Darwin. There is no easier PV to vape since it does everything for you automatically except push the button and inhale. Plus, 21+ hours on a charge, flat finish and doubles as a pass through. Seems to fit well what the OP is looking for.

But there is nothing wrong with a less expensive variable volt (or 5 volt) box mod PV if the OP needs to spend less as you suggested. Ken's Box Mods is another good option in this area.

I definitely think what I'm looking for is a variable voltage, thanks for helping me hammer that out.

my price range is about $100-$150. I hope the new buzz falls in that because it sounds like that is exactly what I'm looking for. Now about using my v4l carts on those as well as some of the new kr808d clearmoizers flumaxers or whatever they're called.....does the buzz (or will it when it gets re-release) have threading that works with those. threading is one point which I'm still very confused on. It seems like 808 doesn't necessarily mean 808 cartomizer because some places list those threadings differently. As I mentioned earlier I got a stealth 510 to kr808 adapter from nhaler and although it allowed me to fit my v4l carts on my blu (no longer have) it wouldn't work.

also, just random comment. I find it strange that as a newbie to this kr808 seems the way to go over 510 hands down, much more choice in flavor, seems to have better carts and i agree with what I've read that the kr808 batts are so much better than 510s......then why are 99% of devices over the standard cig size all 510? I mean all new vapers are advised to go with a kr808 which I know why after trying both, but almost every single big battery i've seen is 510 except the igo and pigcig and i have yet to see a mod that isn't 510. I find that very strange.

I agree with you. I vape 801's/BE112's and 801 cartos on variable volt and 5 volt PV's. Too me, it is a much better option than the 510. I think manufacturers like conformity, making it easier to produce. Plus the 510 vapes hotter which is needed on the little, dinky standard 3.7 volt batteries. But once one moves up to a better PV, I think other atomizers actually vape better.

I have found that I like the cooler 901 atomizers at VV better than I do the 510s.

The price for the buzz pro is already up at notcigs. $139 you might go over a bit by the time you get batteries and a charger but, not by a huge amount. It's due out in 4 weeks. You can save some money on batteries, if you go order some trustfire flames at dealextreme now. You'll get them just about the time the buzz pro comes out. :)

Ah thanks for the timeframe. I must have completely missed it on their website. 4 weeks isn't a bad wait at all, and if I go a little over budget it's no biggie.
