I love watching how other people go about building their coils and seeing what tools they use in the hopes of picking up a new trick or two. But one thing I'm surprised many people don't have in their build kits is a quality magnet or two. Like a pair of ceramic tweezers - I couldn't live without this superfluous tool. During a build I leave it to the magnets to keep track of tiny screws, drill bits, and lengths of wire. They also serve as a good place to let my recently fired coils cool, catch my clipped leads before they fly off to who-knows-where (until I step on it later), and trying to place a vertical coil has never been easier than on drill bit with a fresh residual magnetic charge. My favorite thing to use them for is cleaning up my build area with literally a wave of my hand especially after a day of testing builds.
I convinced a buddy to add one to his kit and he went out and bought this monster of a magnet taken from what I assume to be the core of the Earth because it took a screwdriver to pry it off the side of his filing cabinet. Personally I just harvested my favorite refrigerator magnets
