Hi I`m inzom smoked for nearly 20 years just made the switch to vaping went from 2 different brands of cigalikes to an ego pen and today my wife picked me up a ijoy wand with the dimond tank liking the wand great flavor and vape plan on geting a box mod in the future any tips on affordable mods/tanks.
Welcome! I'd go to a place like Myvaporstore and browse the starter kits. Narrow it down a bit and then come back for suggestions, maybe.

I have been doing that but being so new its dificult to know exactly what im looking at let alone for ohm this volt that watt here its intimadateing
Well the first question is MTL or DL. MTL is the type of vape you would get from the devices you have tried so far. DL is the “cloud chucking” variant sometimes referred to as “sub-ohm” which has coils running at quite low resitance and high watts, produces a lot more vapor, uses lower nic juice, and has a different type of draw.
I’m going to assume MTL for the moment simply because none of your mods so far are DL. This simplifies matters somewhat. You can ignore any device with multiple batteries or whose coils all run below about .7ohm

Very affordable just $ 17 with free shipping... works like a charm... you can order it from:
    Joyetech Cuboid Mini Battery Kit

For this mod you can buy Innokin Zenith D22 MTL Tank ($23) from:

If you are of the MTL persuasion, you could get either a one or two battery box mod, depending. Two can be nice to have if you think you may want to experiment with big clouds and low resistances in the future. It's harder to tote around though. Although having some two battery boxes tends to mean more battery life.

If you go one battery I'd suggest either a Jac Vapor Sandstorm (they come in 23 ore 25 diameter options which can be handy if you think you will like a larger tank at some point. If you have any interest in temp control in the future well, they're a very well liked DNA option. Then there is the Geekvape ages, which I think also looks nice, but it's shockproof waterproof drop proof and overall just insanely reliable. If your work contains active and etc situations they can be useful The Legend is the two battery option for that (both by Geekvape) and well, the Legend is ginormous but has good ergonomics I don't take mine out of the house that much (and I have purse) but well, it's pretty great, honestly. I think Teslacigs makes a pretty great board for a non dna mod, they are reliable and offer a strange and varied sort of set of design options but I really like their board .I also like Innoken mods (the Proton is a two battery favorite) and Innoken stuff is pretty durable indeed and easy on the eyes (in my opinion) anyway. The innoken Kroma kit is a nice setup with one of the best MTL tanks this year (again my opinion) and it's single battery. The tank is innovative, topfill, coils last forever 4 ml and great flavor and a variety of coil options. Again (in my opinion) it's one of the best MTL drop in tanks this year. Lots of folks feel similarly.

If you want a tube mod that takes a battery, the Ephro 101 is getting good reviews at the moment and it's very versatile, etc. If I did not have all the tube mods in the world already, I would probably get one.

I also like some (Smoant) mods, and I like Eleaf if you kinda want to split the difference between 1 and 2 batteries, well it's one of the smallest and lightest mods around that is two battery. I like mine.

Well, um though really? These are all personal opinions and you should get others opinions and also look at stuff on line and maybe like, check out some different vendor areas and reviews and stuff, I mean there's no rush, I mean not completely, you have some time to decide.

    Welcome and good luck,
    Anna

The term "mod" is the battery device. The term "tank" is the juice attachment which will sit on top of the mod and contains e-liquid, and has heating "coils" which turn the liquid into vapor. All are purchased separately, but may all come included in a starter kit.

    R
egulated mods are classified as either "internal battery" or "external battery". They both have their pro's and cons and are explained here Internal Battery (Lipo) or External Batteries (18650)? Which type is right for you?

    lipo-or-18650_large.jpg

Regulated mods can also be classified by their form factor: box shaped or tube shaped. No real difference in performance, other than the user's aesthetic preferance.
    _____________________

Tanks are classified as either MTL (mouth-to-lung) draw, or as DTL (direct-to-lung) draw.

    MTL tanks
use higher resistance coils with ohms 1.0 ohm or higher
    cooler vape
    less vapor production
    less drain on the battery
    lower consumption of e-liquid
have narrow bore mouth pieces (drip tips) for a tighter draw

DTL tanks are also called sub-ohm tanks
use lower resistance coils with ohms less than 1.0 ohm
    often provide a warmer vape
    more vapor production
    more drain on batteries
    higher consumption of e-liquid
have wider bore mouth pieces (drip tips) for a looser draw

    Lower Ohm Coils Will:
    • Heat The Coil Faster
    • Produce More Vapor
    • Drain The Battery Faster
    • Use E-Juice Faster
    • Produce A "Warmer" Tasting Vape
    Higher Ohm Coils Will:
    • Heat The Coil Slower
    • Produce Less Vapor
    • Provide A “Cooler” Tasting Vape
    • Use Less E-Juice
    • Prolong Battery Life
    ___________________________

Coils for the tanks are usually proprietary, meaning each tank will have its own selection of coils that may/may not work in a different tank. Coils will have recommendations for a range of wattage settings which is on the coil or on the product page of the manufacturer/vendor. For example:

    • 1.2 ohm Single Stainless Steel Uwell Crown Coil - 10 to 30W
    • 0.5 ohm Dual Stainless Steel Uwell Crown Sub-Ohm Coil - 30 to 80W
    • 0.25 ohm Dual Stainless Steel Uwell Crown Sub-Ohm Coil - 80 to 120W
    • 0.15 ohm Dual Ni200 Nickel Uwell Crown Sub-Ohm Coil - 400 to 600 Degrees Fahrenheit (temp control)
    _________________________

So, as a beginner, how do you pick the right tank and coils, and figure out what wattage setting to use?

In most cases you'll want to pick a MTL tank, which uses higher ohm (1.0 ohm or higher) like an Innokin Zenith or Aspire Nautilus. There are more options that I list in the link below.

When choosing what wattage setting to use on your mod, consider the recommended wattage setting for the coil your tank has. Start at the lowest wattage setting, and gradually increase the wattage until your vape becomes too warm or begins to taste a little burnt. Then back down the wattage until you no longer get those symptoms. Also experiment with the air control setting on your tank. It's all a matter of trial and error to find your own personal "sweet spot".

    That is Awesome @Inzom

cig-a-likes are dreadful in price and efficiency. eGos are limited although have their place. Pods.. hmm.. if you can refill  but some famous brands are not designing their products to refill :nah:... not looking at any particular brands like tobacco company BLOO or JOOL.

The iJoy Wand looks fun. It's also cheap to run and from a fairly good brand. A few years ago, iJoy were the also-rans and their 'stations' at vape conventions were a festival of tumbleweed and zero customers.

These days... I like them.

Don't get the ijoy avenger. Should you want a mod that has similar characteristics, folks here will give you a ton of them at a much cheaper price while being the same if not better in terms of performance
See the main reason im looking at the avenger is i can make since of the display at a glance and i have failing vision so readability is a plus for me and i dont have any expireance with box/adjustible box mods thats realy all i can look at oh and it can use the same coils as the dimond tank i have currently so i wouldnt have to store added parts
