Long (3 hour) story shortened up:

Have been waiting like a kid at Christmas for my new ego-c starter kit. I was so excited when it arrived today!

I've been using a gas station brand carto system, just cleaning and refilling cartos, but after a lot of reading decided I wanted what I thought would be a better investment and an overall upgrade from the gas station stuff.

So I get my ego-c's open and assembled and I almost die of anticipation of an awesome vaping experience -- only to find that with both cigs/clearomizers I am getting a nasty burnt paper taste like they are dry (much like when a polyfill carto starts to run dry).

For three hours I have watched youtube tutorials and perused this forum but nothing I'm trying is working -- as a matter of fact, one of my setups is not vaping at all now. The light comes on when i take a drag, but there's no pull and no vapor or taste. Here are the fixes I've tried so far:

1) Took tank/clearomizer out and flicked it to make sure the bubble was at the end nearest the mouthpiece.

2) Took some strong drags with the battery turned off first.

3) Took the whole thing apart, wiped the head, and put it all back together (a few times).

Now I know this is not rocket science, so why can't I get either of these 2 cigs to work right?

The eGo-C tank systems are temperamental at best. What kind of e-liquid are you using? I could never get anything above a 60/40 PG/VG ratio to wick well in those darn things. Sounds like you've tried just about everything. The only other thing I can think to suggest is to put about 5 drops of juice directly onto the atomizer spike to prime the wick. Only problem is that burnt taste can be difficult to get rid of. Have you got any fresh atties?

Hi - It doesn't sound like you're having any fun. I know what the eGo-C components are, but I've never tried one. Is the juice actually feeding to the atty? When you take it apart is the atty wet?

ETA: You have certainly done your research, which is probably adding to the frustration. You've likely come across this info already, but if you scroll down to the bottom is seems to be addressing the same problem you have been having: https://shop.vapegeek.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=234

Did you charge the batteries when you first got the kit? From what I hear, sometimes the batteries come only semi-charged. You should have gotten a little instruction sheet which describes initial charging procedures. I had to charge mine for 8 hours initially.

Don't know what kind of clearo you have, but it may not be wicking properly. When I got my CE4(top coil) it was terrible, no vapor or flavor. I quickly switched to a CE3 type(bottom coil) and results were much better.

I'm new to vaping too, but these are just a couple things I could thing of. Hope you figure it out.

Welcome , and sorry that your device isn't working . And as has already been said . A lot of people have problems with the tanks . Sometimes they work , and sometimes they don't . As far as carto tanks , I'd skip those for now . Too many varibles that can affect the outcome . Instead , I would recommend you get a couple Kanger "Evod's" They are bottom coil clearomizers , that work great on Ego's , with very little hassle . Put in the juice , and start vaping . They come with a 2.2 or a 2.4 atty head ( which is replaceable ) a box of 5 runs around 6 or 7.00 You can get the 1.8 ohm versions as well . Although they tend to wear out your battery abit faster . And the vapor will be alittle warmer . You didn't mention what juice your using , but as also said in an earlier post , too thick of juices , don't wick very well in most devices . Best left for direct dripping applications > And at least you have something to use , until you get your next shipment. Good Luck

thanks I'll try that -- my kit came with 5 attys so i have 3 more tries lol

Great...don't throw those other atties out just yet, though. Stick them in some vodka and leave them to soak overnight. Tomorrow morning, drop them into a pan of boiling water for about 3 mins. When they've cooled down, blow out as much water as you can from the battery end and leave them on a paper towel to dry. That's how I used to clean my eGo-C atomizer heads, and it might just save them in your case.

With the new ones, try putting 5 drops of liquid directly onto the atmoizer spike before you do anything else - like I said in my last post. You should be able to see the liquid being absorbed into the wick as you do so. When you've assembled the tank and attached it to the atty, take at least three long primer puffs before you press the button. When you feel ready to take a hit, try to use a long, slow draw. The eGo tanks struggle to wick fast enough to keep up with harder draws.

Good luck!

I'm a big fan of cartotanks, but they are more complex devices than a clearomizer. For now, if you aren't able to get what you have working to your satisfaction, I'll echo trying one of the bottom coil clearomizers. They will be simpler than a cartotank, and should provide a smoother cooler vape than a top coil clearomizer which may seem harsh or too warm of a vape to some vapors.

I'll include this article that I wrote for beginner vapors that shows the more common juice delivery devices available for the type of battery device that you own:

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/blogs/baditude/3230-1-proper-terminology-carto-tank-what-primer-juice-delivery-attachments.html

Once you feel that you are ready to take on a cartotank, this tutorial should be helpful:

Sounds like you got your troubles fixed.

I haven't seen it mentioned, but do your tanks have soft silicone caps on the atomizer end, or hard plastic? The silicone is great for preventing leaking and flooding of the atomizer, but I've found for best performance it needs to be rotated on the atomizer spike a few times for best performance.

I no longer use the tanks on mine. Instead, I directly drip onto the atomizer. I find it gives the best vaping experience for my preferences. You could do the same with your current setup. Just use an empty tank with the end cap removed as a drip tip and it should work fine. Or you could always buy an eGo Type A drip tip. I assume your eGo-C cone is a Type A; it's the most common kind.

Even if you move on to other delivery systems, those eGo-C atomizers are great for trying out new juices or even as an emergency backup if all else fails at some point (and it probably will).

Good luck.
