Hey guys, i just got my ego T (type a) this morning. I was really excited, but i m having problems. I bought a Ultimate ce2 clearomizer, and a dct tank along with it. I ve tried everything, but no matter what i use, i am having a really bad burnt taste. What am i doing wrong? with the ce2, this morning i filled it up, and left it out for about 6 hrs at home, and there is still that burnt taste. I also just filled the dct tank, and the same thing...Please, someone help me

Might sound like a dumb question, but did you be sure to fill the cartomizer in the DCT real well. The only thing that would cause a burnt taste in a DCT is burnt polyfill in the carto. Once it gets burnt, you can't fix it and need to just toss the carto. You need to fill the carto from the top. You can't just let it fill itself from a full tank. I'm assuming you're using a regular polyfilled XL sized cartomizer?

There are all kind of tweaks to do with a CE2 to eliminate a burned taste. First thing is to make sure it's wicking enough. Take the top off and "fluff" the wicks a little with a small, thin object. Lift them slightly in their slits in the cup. CE2s are notorious for not wicking thick juices (high VG) without some wick tweaking.
If it's a rubbery taste, it's the top plug melting a little or getting hot. You can take it out and flip it upside down and replace it, leaving a small gap between it and the cup. There are a lot of Youtube videos about how to tweak CE2s.
A lot of people pre-burn the wicks too. Again, it's easier if you see it done than to try to describe it in writing.

hi, well i m using 50/50 e liquid. When I first got it this morning, there was a burnt taste when i was using the tank. ( I have an ego T type A). but after a couple of puffs, it kinda tasted better. But now, all i get is a really bad burnt taste. So then I filled the dct tank i got, to the top, and still.... a really burnt taste on that, along with the ce2 also.

Ouch!

That's why Phil Busardo rants about vendors not putting instructions in their damn packages.

You have to fill, or at least prime with several drops the cartomizer inside the tank before you push that button! Especially with the incredibly small pre-punched cartos!

Check this out: A PBusardo Tutorial - How I slot my cartos!.wmv - YouTube

I won' comment on the CE2 or tank-atty because I never got good results with that. But my favorite vape is cartos in tanks - I use regular Boge cartos in J-tanks, a no frills, reliable solution.

well i used 2 Ce2's already....both with the same bad burnt taste. I also used 3 of the type a tanks, and also, a really burnt taste. I used 3 different liquids, peach, blueberry and apple. I m taking short to long puffs. I really dont have a clue what i m doing wrong. I looked at the youtube vids, and doing everything they suggest.

Ok, on the dct, did you also fill your carto, not just the tank? If the answer is no then try another carto, filled first then inserted into the tank, before filling the tank. The one in there may be recoverable if you clean it but thats such a pain it may not be worth it. I use a giant ce2 regularly so theres a little i can help with here. recover as much liquid as you can , take a fork/paperclip/tweezer and remove the silicone upper(s) rinse them and set aside. rinse the ce2 with warm/hot water. Rinse it a few times until the wicks look clean. Attach the ce 2 to any battery available, in five second bursts apply voltage, wait a few seconds between on/off .Keep going until no more residue burns off the coil. It will eventually turn red/orange across all or most of the coil. This will clean the "burning" taste off the coil and allow you to start fresh.Once its clean then refer to one of the ce2"mods" to help with the wicking to keep this from being a recurring issue. As far as the tank theres one that i preferred to use as my guide for cleaning my tanks here, How I clean my eGo-t atty... or... Sunday morning at Vicky's kitchen sink - YouTube this one may now be outdated now but she goes through just about everything that you should know on how to clean the atty to rid the burning and adjust the wick. Good Luck. Happy Vaping.

Once you burn the carto in the DCT its done. Use another, I recommend getting some pre-punched Ressurectors instead of the 1.5ohm dual coils, especially for a low voltage eGo. The Ressurectors are single coil, but are XL size so they fit perfectly in the tank, and they work a LOT better than the DC carto that comes with the tank on lower voltage PVs. And if you buy the pre-punched ones they have the metal base on them, just like the DC carto that comes with the tank. Crystal Clear Vaping sells them and so does Hoosier. CCV has a good price and free shipping.

Are you sure your filling the cartos fully and correctly? 50/50 is fairly thick and if your just drip filling, its going to take a while for the juice to settle to the bottom, and if you dont wait long enough, thats when you get a burnt taste.
I HIGHLY recommend getting a syringe and filling your cartos that way. It takes all the guesswork out of filling and ensures they are filled correctly.

When you say pulled the middle part down, do you mean the carto?

If you didnt fill the carto at all first, you def burnt the filler, and then no matter what you do its going to taste burnt after.
And also you said you put in a few drops. XL cartos hold a LOT more than a few drops, and not filling them fully and correctly will surely give you a burnt taste and ruin the carto everytime. Thats why I again, highly recommend getting a syringe so you can ensure you fully and correcly fill your cartos.

Do any of you guys suggest that I just get a regular atty? like a 510, and just start out that way? Maybe that will be better for someone new? When i look at the vids, looks like you just drip, and thats it.
That sounds like a good idea. First you need to learn the dynamics of vaping and there arte a lot of great cartos and attys that are easier to use. If I can help you any time along the way just PM me. You'll find a lot of people that will help you here. Good luck.

yeah i think i burnt the dct tank. I didn't put any liquid in the middle, till after a couple of puffs. So i think i burnt that one out. For the ce2, i do have a syringe, and i ll try it again. It holds 1.8, so i ll fill it up to there. Just one question, do i prime the CE2 before or after i put the liquid in? and if this dosen't work, Do any of you guys suggest that i just get a regular atty and just use the drip to just start off with?

Well, you can get an atty and try dripping, sure. Dripping will probably give you the best flavor, but it has a little bit of a learning curve, and it's a bit uncomfortable, especially for out and about.

My suggestion is to get some Boge 2.0 Ohm cartomizers, fill them correctly - you can ask for more help if it isn't clear yet - and those will work well. They do. Really.

You can definitely keep exploring CE2s, Vision Stardusts, dual coil cartos (they will produce a cooler vape than the above Boges), specialized atomizers (bridgeless, 306s, etc.), the atty-tank system (Ego-T, Ego-C) which I personally hate, and so many others, but if you want a reliable starting point, go for the Boge, regular size, low resistance cartomizers.
