First and foremost Mech mods can be EXTREMELY dangerous. They are not protected like a VV system, or regulated like an E-go device.

You will need, the correct battery (Read Baditude's blog on battery and Mech mod safety), a good charger, and a tank system of your choice.

Cartomizers, clearomizers, glassomizers, and so on work with it.

Rebuildable atomizers can save some money, after their initial investment. But this is something you need to read up on A LOT before purchasing one.

With a Mech Mod YOU are the safety mechanism. You are going to be holding a pipe bomb, and you don't want it to go off on you.

Please read up as much as possible, and move to the mod builders forum for advice after your first 5 posts in the new members forum.

If you have to ask, you are not ready for a mech mod. When stepping into the mechanical world one should of already done the research and have a clear understanding what is needed. All the information is in this forum.

I have to agree, mechs are definitely not for beginners.

Walk before you run.

I have been doing research on the mech I want, and have been reading up on them for weeks. My shopping cart is still not ready to hit checkout yet.

Keep puffing my Smok Woo till then I suppose.

In my opinion a beginning vapor should not go for a mech mod. What happened? Did a friend of yours show you the giant clouds of vapor you can blow with a subohm coil so you can impress and intimidate people

Ok, Rant started

Subohm mech vaping is incredibly dangerous and serves no purpose other than to create huge clouds of burnt tasting vapor at ridiculously high wattages to show off to people. An 18650 battery venting do to incorrect usage will possibly burn your hand or face off or possibly injure some innocent bystander which will make the nightly news (possibly national news) which will give the anti ecig people more power to ban ecigs as dangerous.

Please just start vaping with normal equipment until you know what you are doing.

If you insist on starting with subohm massive cloud vaping dangerous equipment please carry a signed and dated disclaimer that you are an idiot with a small P***s and low self esteem that does not know what you are doing

Sorry for the rant - the forum moderators will probably be deleting this reply shortly

But you're wrong about it tasting burnt. Sub ohm vaping is wonderful when proper care is applied

Learn the difference between a mechanical mod and a regulated mod here: Advancing Up to Ego's & Mods

If you are seeking your first mod, like everyone else I also recommend a regulated mod over a mechanical mod. Read this: Deeper Understanding of Mod Batteries.

Regardless of whether you choose a regulated or mechanical mod, you most important purchases will be high quality batteries and charger. IMR (unprotected safe chemistry) and hybrid batteries are now recommended over protected ICR batteries: Battery Basics for Mods: IMR or Protected?

Your first juice attachments will likely be either clearomizers or a cartotank: Is it a carto, a tank, or what?

Once you are ready for a mechanical mod, you'll need to understand how to use it safely: Mechanical Mod Proper Usage Guide

Down the road, you may want to try to build your own wicks and coils with an RBA: Information Resources for Your First RBA

Someone needs to start another Baditude appreciation thread.

All this information is great to read (I know I have about 10 times).

I strongly recommend doing the research before you make a purchase.

But if you are interested in a regulated mod that produces good clouds, I use a Smoktechnology Woo tube. They are regulated at 5 volts, so you need to use dual coil tanks. 2.0 Ohm dual coil cartomizers work great.

Well yes, sub ohm vaping can be dangerous if you don't know what you are doing, but a big fat NO, sub ohm vaping is not just for creating Hugh clouds, although clouds are produced, and most definitely NO to burnt flavor. If my vape at 33 watts tasted burnt why would I choose to do so.?? True, if you don't have an atomizer than can wick properly and supply enough air one will burn their juice. But I don't sub ohm to show off, I do it because I really enjoy the vape. I can easily throw in my kick 2 and vape at a mere 15 watts and enjoy a fantastic vape. Which I do on my 1 ohm builds and higher or just use the Provari at maximum watts. I also like the short form factor of a mech with an 18490 battery. makes for a very nice sexy portable vaporizer.

Hello everyone first day here and a newbie about vaping.

I want to buy a mech mod vape so I am planning order the nemesis clone from fasttech.

My next question is what else is needed for me to smoke the vape? (I know the protected battery is required and juice).
I really think you need to go here: The ECF Library and read all 6 parts of "The Wonderful World of Vaping: An Illustrated Guide to E-cigs". And then read through both of these: Best e-cigarette , Setting up your new e-cigarette - ECF InfoZone . Mech mods are considered Advanced User Devices for a reason.
