HI, iam try to make a mod with a 3.6v battery and i want it to be at 4.2v set.....

What do i need to do this???? regulator??? capacitor??? I dont know Help!!!

I am a beginner........

the reson why i want to do this is so i have a constant output of 4,2v because right now there is nothing on there and the performance starts off great but after a little time it drops and i hate to keep changing the batterys out....

So if everyone can help me out for what i need and how to hook it up that would be great since iam a beginner i dont really know much in this subject

If you're trying to run at 4.2v off a 3.6v battery you'll need a BOOSTER.
If you're trying to run at 4.2v off TWO 3.6v batteries in parallel you'll need a BOOSTER.
If you're trying to run at 4.2v off TWO 3.6v batteries in series you'll need a REGULATOR.

Most people say 5v is the sweet spot so is 4.2v really what you're after?

Also, you could get an 18650 that runs @ 4.2V without electronics and save yourself a bunch of hassle.

This is sort of known by some people but I will say that mine runs 4.2V all day and I have 3 of these batteries.

LINK

Specs from site:

  • Constant Voltage : 3.7V
  • Capacity : 2600mAH ( rated at 0.2C discharge 4.2V - 2.8V @ 25℃ )
  • Operating Temp. : Charge 0 to 45℃ / Discharge -20 to 60 ℃
  • Max. Charge Rate : 2.6A ( ambient temp. 25 ℃ )
  • Max. Discharge Rate : 5.2A ( ambient temp. 25 ℃ )
  • Dimensions :18.52 X 68.16mm ( +/- 0.3mm )

see the thing is my mod only can fit a 10440 battery thats the problem thats why i though i need a regulator but i was totally wrong and "MastiffMike" said i need a booster but still i dont know whitch one and how to hook this up??? and i want it to be steady at 4.2v

Vapoorer, the easy way to keep boosters/regulators straight is to think of what they do.

Boosters = BOOST a lower voltage to a higher voltage
Regulators = Regulate (either lower of smooth out?) a voltage.

What you need is a way to BOOST a battery that only puts out 3.6v ti 4.2v

I don't know if this is EXACTLY what you need but it's prolly similar. Plug-in Power Modules - Non-Isolated POL - PTN04050C - TI.com One of the more experienced modders will chime in with the correct model # (hopefully). BTW, TI will send you 5 chips for free (they'll even pay shipping!) but wait to order until you know which ones you want.

i think thats what i need but in 4.2v rather then 5v and also is this thing going to be stable at 4.2v

i guess also my other qestion is do you know like an e gig say a 510 battery usaul you dont see a drop in performance till the end of the battery will this do both job or do i need somthing else too????

this is driving me crazy its like something so simple but i dont know

your second question: 510 / 401 type electronic batteries regulate the voltage DOWN for the duration of the battery - so it stays consistent at 3.0 volts the whole time. Somebody posted the exact 510 voltage a while back, I don't remember specifically what it was.

first question:
10440 does not have anywhere NEAR the power required for a booster circuit.
14500 has barely enough power, for a little while, not recommended.
You need an 18650.
The reason is - the extra VOLTAGE that comes out of a booster isn't "Free".
You have to pay for it with additional AMPS drawn from the battery.
Smaller batteries can't do it.

That's just not true. There is no way that "mine runs 4.2V all day and I have 3 of these batteries". Fresh off the charger, the first vape is not at even 4.2V much less "all day".

i see "RjG" thank you for clearing that up for me... i guess its not worth it....

so i should just use the battery as is that would be the best way???

or is there a way to keep the voltage at a steady rate so my vap dosent drop or am i getting this part wrong
so my battery last a little longer

It sounds to me, like you just want to build something that hits like a freshly charged battery, but stays at that level for longer then just a few vapes.
Forget about using a 10440, and forget the booster, and don't bother with a regulator either. All you need is a simple nicostick box mod. It uses one 14500 battery and will give you that freshly charged battery vape for hours. For about $10 you can get everything you need including extra parts, (which always are a good idea if it's your first build). Get everything you need at Madvapes. He also has tutorials on his site which walk you through the build process. You can also check out http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/battery-mods/18409-how-build-nicostick.html for the original upgraded nicostick tutorial. Very thorough easy to follow directions.

Edit - Take a look at the Battery Mod section for tons of info on battery type mods such as you want to build.

that is exactly what i want to do... luckly i found a new host that will fit a 14500 battery with a little drilling but as far as the 10440 battery build that i original wanted to do what you said i just hooked everything up normal no booster nothing!!! and just use it as is there still is a little rweeking but its pretty much done.. i would love to build the nico stick but that would be a future project since i already bought these 2 host

as far as this next build i hope when drill out the host the walls they dont get to thin to hold the 14500 battery..

THANKS FOR THE HELP Ez Duzit

AND EVERYONE ELSE I REALLY APPRECIATE IT
