Satisfaction is going to rely on several things:
1) The type of e-cig
2) Nicotine level
3) juice, both flavor and PG/VG ratios

What kind of e-cig does your friend have? Some of the smaller e-cigs that try to look like cigarettes don't work very well, and aren't satisfying. What exactly about it did you not find meeting your needs?

Giving us more information will help us to help you!

Welcome to ecf! Switching is an adjustment to some. I had no problems. There are inexpensive kits you can get into to give ecigs a try. Check out Liberty Flights US or Vapor4Life. A big part of the equation is finding the e-liquid that is right for you, and that is hit an miss. Nicotine absorption is different with an e-cig than it is with a cigarette, and I found myselk vaping more than I smoked.

Ask away with your questions!

Hi. Welcome. I'm a fairly new vaper myself and the satisfaction thing is huge for me as well. Don't know what you tried but here are my thoughts. For a minimal investment you can go to Liberty Flights and get a RIVA 510. 35 bucks or so. Then order some low resistance atomizers- 1.5 ohm or 1.8 ohm. These are available all over the place. Then order some juice- at least 24mg nic strength. Try Bluemist Vaping for the juice. I highly recommend the caramel tobacco 24mg, extra flavor. Good juice, good price. So for around 60 dollars or less you can find out if it'll work for you. This set up will get you maximum bang for the buck. If you're still left wanting you can try a stronger nic level. Also scour the forums here, there is a wealth of information. Good people who have been there. Oh. One thing about ordering juice at the beginning. Order small quantities until you find what you like. Experimenting with large orders CAN get costly.

I wish I'd had Nic_Fan's advice when I started. This forum will save you headaches and hassles. I made many mistakes buying an e-cig at the mall, overpaid and bought too many supplies for it only to find it didn't provide the satisfaction, taste or vapor I needed. Went straight to a 5v mod design (GLV) and got a 6v (Omega). I went to much too soon. The GLV is fantastic. The Omega has a burnt taste although most rave about them. I'm doing something wrong. Getting much good info on this forum. Good luck!

1. Watch the videos for Newbies in the sticky threads of New Members

2. The most popular starters and most supported

Manual batteries recommended for all. Autos can be more easily killed with a juice leak and can turn on accidentally from wind or vibration.

Joye 510 (2-3 hour battery for a light vapor, 1/2 that for a heavy vaper)
Joye 510 with mega xl batteries (long 138mm w/ cart+atty,128mm w/ carto - 60% longer battery charge)
KR808D-1 and Vapor4Life.com (120mm long w/ carto, standard batetry has some charge life as Joye mega xl)

then for 6-8+ hour battery charge and ability to use hotter hitting LR parts
Ego
Riva 510
and other fatter-battery models

I had no problem adjusting to using e-cigs. There's so many types and just by browsing the forum you can tell there are some serious gadget vapers. You don't need an expensive kit or to spend loads of cash on accessories. I've tried disposables with cartridges and didn't like them and they nearly put me off e-cigs for good until I tried a starter kit with cartomizers that suited me. Not had a real ciggie since before Xmas and couldnt afford too. I'm not into eliquids and refillng and just go with the easy option.

between here and there
After a few weeks using an ecig your taste and smell will come back. If you are serious that you were born that way, then please don't take offense as none is meant.
20% off your whole order!

here is a link to liberty-flights with a 20% discount. Look and read what it says about the Riva 510. I think you will be happy with it and it is only $29.99 and 2.99 shipping. Great products and good cs.

ps. You should also order ejuice too. Just in case you don't like what comes with the kit.

The one I tried looked like a regular cig. My friend had a fat one too and it seemed to give a better hit. Flavor doesnt matter much to me, I was born without a sense of smell. I'm hoping to find something that gives a strong smooth hit, that wont bankrupt me.

Look at an ego/riva/tornado with LR attys then. Great battery, good vapor production, and they won't break the bank. I'm using my ego with the tank cartridges, and 2.6 ohm CE2 v5 clearomizers. The clearos take a lot of fiddling to get just right, but then they're great (at least so far.)
