I never seem to encounter the anti-vapers

Here in Honolulu I've vaped all over the place: I airports, bars, restaurants and haven't had one cross word. I've had a few puzzled looks but no rude staring. The few random people who have asked me about it have all seemed uniformly impressed that it has helped me quit smoking, and that it has no odor or even pleasant odor. I keep waiting for my random beligerent to pop up but so far they are as mythological as bigfoot.

I've been vaping quite a while and have never run into anyone who gave me a problem. Of course I'm not gonna blow clouds in line at the market, but I've stealth vaped in stores and other places with people around. Nobody has ever said anything about it though. The only time I seem to find other vapers is when I'm at the local vape shops. Only twice have I seen people vaping other than that, and they were using analog look-alikes.

All those anti-vapers are, for the most part, a figment of the imagination of people who still cling to the smoker mentality. They're far more rare than someone who feels guilty about vaping would imagine. Of course, if you restrict your vaping to smoking areas, or only sneak-vape* you never find out that all those anti-vapers are a product of your paranoia and residual smoker's guilt. So it becomes a self-reinforcing belief.

* I detest the term "stealth vaping". You're sneaking, so just man up and admit it.

The deputy manager of a pub where we were having a vaping meeting kicked us out after 1 hour, with all that it was the they had accepted the booking and that there had been another meeting there in February.
Imagine a big table covered in mods eliquids to trade and a few people tinkering with their rebuildable attys, quite a view :)
She said people complained about the smell (?), but in reality I think she simply needed the table and didn't have the guts to say that plainly.
(if you ever visit London, it's The Bunch of Grapes, In London Bridge. Big avoid, a well deserved 2 stars in Google)

We went to another pub which serve very alternative beer flavours (coconut and the like) and people and staff were ok with that and some very friendly and interested.
I think in the end there were 6 people or more trying, including a few non-smokers. halo midnight apple was a big favourite :)
Somebody at the meeting told me he vapes everywhere, includign buses. But he vapes in front of the driver when getting on the bus, so they see it's not a cigarette, rather than havign to explain after they spot the vapour and stop the bus in the middle of the road to kick you out.

Personally, I do puff here and there on trains and stations, but not too explicitly as there is always a chance to find some staff which will treat as you were smoking even on the face of evidence. And I tend and put it less than diplomatically when I feel I am bossed around unfairly, so I prefer not putting myself in the situation.

But just the other day some railway stuff spotted my vapour and asked me to stop smoking, "I am not smoking", "Oh, but you were, I saw you", "I still am, but it's not smoke, look.."
After a second she was asking me if I managed to stop smoking completely and how much it costs, as her sister didn't manage to quit with the patches.
So perhaps I should just vape away openly.
But she warned me that in central London her colleagues might be more aggressive and less inclined to listen (e.g. they might call the cops if you refuse stopping).
And I always avoid vaping at the playground where I bring my kid playing. Some parents could get pretty mental about it, I think :)

The only times I sneak around vaping is when I know it's not allowed. Most airlines don't allow it so I sneak. If I'm attending a traing class, I actually might be able to get away with it but, I don't know so I sneak. Just about every other place I vape openly. If I feel like blowing a cloud of vapor, that's what I do. I have done this in NC, GA, FL, and upstate NY. If there was a serious anti-vaping sentiment, you'd think I'd have run into it by now. It's never happened. Not once. I've been asked what it was a few times. I've gotten a few curious looks and questions but, no one has ever objected.

The anti-vapers are urban legend made up by those that cannot believe there is a distinction between vaping and smoking even when those that don't vape are perfectly capable of seeing the distinction.

Exactly!! Fear and guilt are the monkey-on-the-back of many ex-smokers who now vape. That monkey is harder to shake than the cigarette habit. It seems like some of that paranoia also comes from people who live where vaping is legally treated like smoking. They can't believe such laws could be imposed unless there was some kind of public support or consensus. If it's illegal, many people must think it's wrong.

Kudos to you for admitting you "sneak". If you have a good reason, there's nothing wrong with sneaking. "Stealth vaping" is dishonest. If vaping is permitted and you "stealth vape", you're being cowardly. If it's not and you "sneak", you're being smart and you may as well call it what it is.
