I Still Don't Understand Why I Have to Top Off my Cartos So Often

Yea, I'm doing something wrong then, because when I top off, I'm only able to add 2-5 drops TOPS. Usually 3-4 drops.

Maybe I'm re-filling too early.....but the taste gets real crappy after 8 hits, and that is why I'm refilling. As soon as I refill, the taste it back to where it should be. For another .....5-8 hits.

I've never added a few drops until saturated, then WAITED, and added more. I'm doing that right now, so I'll let you guysknow how it works.

Someone asked how I was initially filling the cartos. I'm using the condom method, as per psubardo(sp?)'s youtube vid

I didn't like the condom method. It was messy and wasted juice in my experience. I think using a hypodermic needle or the spin method works best. Some people shake the cartos rather than spin them to force the juice down but I feel spinning the carto is faster and more efficient.

If you don't have a lanyard you can make a spinner out of an old medicine bottle and string (or any other suitable material).

I highly recommend trying carto tanks if you continue to have problems. You only need to prime them once and then keep the juice in the tank topped off. Mine typically last a week or two (depending on juice) before I have to replace them.

Thanks for moving it for me. I'm still new here and there are so many forums I get confused. I don't even think I've been to HALF of the sub-forums here, and I've spent at least an hour on here every day for almost a week now.

Anyway, I tried a few different methods, and still the cartos aren't lasting more than 15 puffs for me before i have to top off. I don't care for the taste, either.

I guess cartos just aren't my thing. I'm LOVING my evod BCC, and I'm ordering a kanger protank today.

At least I tried them, though!

I think it's because you're using the standard size small cartos on a a higher volt so the additional heat is drying them faster. I use Smoktech dual cartos 1.7 ohm, they're XL. They fill very easily just dripping and tipping, no condom, no spinning, no shaking. They hold a lot of liquid, I've heard 70 drops but I've never counted. I top it off every hour or two, and each time I top it I fill until it looks really soggy and I don't think it can hold more. I never get dry burned hits. I'm using it on an ego twist set at 4.0 and I like it a lot more than a clearo.

The answer is simple, you're not actually filling the carto, you're just dripping a few drops at a time I assume.

Do a YouTube search on how to properly fill a carto.

I use cartos only, I have every clearo out there and none of them do for me what a carto in a tank does.

Also: I've been using the same two cartos in my tanks for a little over a week now. A clearo head rarely ever lasted me that long.

If you read my thread though (I don't blame you for not reading all the replies), you will realize that I've tried SEVERAL filling methods.

So far, I have found the condom filling method to absorb quite a bit more than the other 2-3 methods I've tried. I DON'T have a lanyard, so I'm not spinning yet (although I did see suggestion in this thread for using an empty pill bottle + string, I will try that later).

So I don't believe THAT is the issue.

My cartomizers are BOGE, 3.0ohm......so viewing a chart someone posted on here, I set my ego twist to 4.8v (as high as it would go)

I have SINCE found that setting it to 4.2-4.6v is MUCH better. The carto DOES last longer.

I actually came back to update my LAST post in this thread. It seems now that I AM getting far more vape puffs before I have to top off again. The two tricks that made all the difference were:

1) Using a lower volt
2) After topping off, waiting 2-5 min, letting it soak in, and then topping off AGAIN.

Letting it sit for a few minutes, and then topping off again has made ALL THE DIFFERENCE IN THE WORLD.

I'm now getting around 15-25 vapes before I top off again. Notice I didn't say before I HAVE to top off again.....because even after 15-25 vapes, I could probably squeeze out another 5-10 if I HAD to.....however, at that point the flavor is dry, and it isn't vaping as strong, so since I'm always at home anyway, I top off right around that point. I've heard this makes the cartos last longer, as well.

Still, I DO enjoy my EVOD BCC MUCH more. I think perhaps the flavor is a tad more pronounced on the cartos, so I can definitely see why some enjoy the cartos. ESPECIALLY if they last as long for others as I've heard people say.

I honestly don't think I would buy cartos , even AFTER seeing an improvement in performance based on my different methods and the tips and tricks you guys have given me.

However, I might be interested in a carto tank. I think the F-16 or F-17 might be real nice to try.

As I said, today I'm ordering another evod BCC as backup, and a Kanger protank, so I'll be experimenting more with the evod , and with the kanger pro tank (especially since my e-juices from HHV are on their way).

I'm sure within the next 2 months, I'll give a carto tank a try. I'd probably try it sooner, but my finances don't allow for me to crazy here, unfortunately :)

Thanks again for all your help guys. Im very glad I gave cartos a try, and considering how much I enjoy e-cigs....I will probably try just about everything at some point!

You're always going to have to top it off every 15 drops or so just to keep it from basically burning up, and I've never used a carto without a tank but I would imagine the taste/flavor tends to drop off rather quickly(5 drops or so)...but after reading through this thread the solution is very simple, just invest in a carto TANK and save yourself some money

without reading page 2 and 3... I can say that you are probably not completely saturating the filler material. What was the 1 thing that the vape nerd said in his post that you do not do... that he did, that got him better results than you? Hmmm... He said he used a syringe!!! Yeah!! when I saw that he said he used a syringe, I used process of elimination. There was a 50% chance that he did not use a syringe.. and there was a 50% chance that he did in fact use a syringe. I read his post a 2nd time and that really confirmed it. I'm almost 75% sure that he uses a syringe now. And I am guessing that you do not use a syringe? I am guessing you "top off" quickly and pop your carto back on your mod and vape? That isn't going to work man. Also, the older a cartomizer gets, the MORE time it takes to fill it back up. The poly fill gets less absorption. To fill a carto thats already been filled a couple times, it can take up to an hour. You have to drip 10 drops at a time, wait 15 minutes, do it again... wait 15 minutes.. Or use the condom filling method, or a syringe. The syringe method is best. Also, obviously using a lower volt (which = lower temp coils) is going to use less juice per hit, which will make your carto last longer. believe it or not, the lower the voltage, the longer your juice will last. Its a wild theory but it works. Good luck man.
