This one hurt.

I had been building coils all day today, and so, I had a small scraps and used wick bowl for pieces of scrap kanthal, excess cotton and used wicks.

My pv was sitting next to this bowl, on a small stool next to my couch. I moved a blanket, knocked over my pv, which in turn perfectly hit the bowl which upended on the floor next to the base of my couch.

Ok, mess to clean up, w/e, pause Star Trek, start picking everything up. Got all the pieces I could see, and started to lightly run my hand over the floor to see if I could find some of the smaller pieces I had missed, BIG MISTAKE. A small piece of 28 gauge kanthal pierced my index finger and only stopped because it hit my bone and bent against the floor.

Pulling it out, it was only about a half inch long, and 3/4 of it was imbedded in my finger. Applied pressure after a thorough hand washing stopped the bleeding quickly with no need for a bandage. Still feels weird though.

Anyway, just thought I'd share. Don't do what I did.

Have I got a solution for you! (and only because I know your pain, literally and figuratively) At any auto parts store, hardware store, harbor freight, you can get a little magnetic bowl made for nuts and bolts, and things you dont want to lose. I keep it right next to me when I'm building, and all of the kanthal scraps stick right to it! If your drop something and cant find it you can just wave the bowl over the area and it will pick it up. nuch better than finding it on accident. lol No more bleeding metal slivers for me! ;)

Yeah, that's how I found the scraps actually. I waved a very large super magnet that I, you know, just kinda have lying around...

That bowl is pretty cool though. I'm gonna get one for sure.
