I posted once before about how I like to rebuild my protank and vivi heads, but I wasn't satisfied. I had to keep trying new things, new coils, new wicks that sort of thing. I have settled on cotton so that was simple but the coils kept aggravating me. What ohm did I want, how did I want it wrapped, yadda yadda. I realize it isn't a true RBA but I needed a new hobby. The last post I did I told how I stood the coils up vertical and pulled the cotton thru, snipped it off close to one side, then passed a leg of the coil down thru the wick. I really liked it but it wasn't quite right. Another member got me thinking that if I keep the coil as is but put the wick on the outside going around between the coil and the inside of the cup I might get what I was looking for. YES! Oh, it is so nice now! juice that I have been vaping for months now taste worlds different. It even fixed the flooding problem I have been having with my protank. I believe it is a winner. I even made one up for my vivi nova, also awesome.

Yep, now instead of a thin wick wrapped my a coil, you have a wad of stuff touching a hot metal coil, much like a CARTO.

Plus, when liquid seeps in though the hole, instead of blank nothingness to go down and flood into, it's got this big fat wad of stuff absorbing it!!!! Nice! That would solve the flood issue!

Same type of coil I first ran on my Rocket tanks.............so nothing new yet?

Yes, when they work, Chimney coils are pretty nice. They leave the airway open for a nice clear draw and as long as the wick isn't to tight they have decent flavor.

Funny thing is, I still do a few 1.6ohm silica setups for the Evod/PT2-mini's and they Rip. Might just be the attention to fitting the wicks properly.

I defiantly hear what you are saying sometimes when I go home I use one of my wife's disposable clearo and I sometimes think it tastes better. But then it starts to taste burnt or the flavor shifts and I remind myself why I spend the time to make my coils.

I'm thinking I should line up atomizer heads, and just systematically pop in a 'new' (cleaned/dryburner/reflavorwicked) one ONCE A DAY as a method to retain a consistent vape.

One week would be too long, although I would probably do the cleaning on a weekly basis but for using the head, I'm thinking only run a head for one day, or maybe 1 tankfull.

I'm not sure if it's necessary to change the coil itself. All my microcoil builds easily lasts me 2 to 3 weeks. I do however replace my cotton every 2 tanks, and dry burn the coil.

Maybe I'm just a butter finger, but this vertical coil build takes me forever to get the alignment right, and changing it every day Would be a mega pain in the .... (Especially since getting the vertical alignment perfect is critical for this build to even function)

I think I didn't explain it right; re-edited my post and changed 'coil' to 'head' instead; I was talking about the whole atomizer head thing, not just the coil itself.

I agree. It is a .... to get just right and it takes me quite some time for me to convince my ocd to leave it alone but I also feel that this set up will make it easier. Like you say, take out the wick and put the power to it and it will be good as new in no time. Then just add new cotton. I have never yet had to rebuild anything because a coil popped.

And do you anticipate a change if / when you change "juice"? I have coils that excel with one "juice" and "fail" with another.

It seems like a never ending cycle and could be a waste of time for some folks. It works for YOU and that is wonderful; I don't want the hassle unless I see it is good with ALL my "juice".

I've tried this with Boba's bounty, a random menthol, HHV legend, Bryce's vanilla cremw custard, Halo's voodoo, halo's subzero. Seems solid for all
