I'm on day 17 and what initially got me off the week of half smoke/half vape and into only vaping was the purchase of a Kanger T3S to upgrade my my craptastic $50 "eGo" "starter kit" (650mah batteries labeled 'EGO-CE5'). Finally a little vapor (psychological, IMO) to couple with my oral fixation.
Well, the T3S is alright, but the heads become useless far too quickly for my taste so I started recoiling them every couple of days. Yes, they become absolutely useless after a couple of days.. Once I didn't feel like recoiling so I visited local vapor shops looking for replacement heads; I walked out of the third shop with an EVOD after failing in this endeavor.
I liked the EVOD, too, but the heads are just as likely to give me grief. Draw is tighter on the EVOD which is more like a cig to me, so that was good. I'm not fond of the tiny window, though, it's pretty much worthless. The smaller capacity keeps me from getting the dregs that the T3S left in the final ml or so of juice.
The day after purchasing the EVOD, with an already waning head, I ordered a bunch of stuff from CHINA (stuck at the HK post office) including a 'T32' (clear EVOD/small T3S), a mini protank, Kanger head supply, and some 1100mah EVOD batteries (constant voltage will help). I also pulled the trigger and ordered a cheap, tiny, genesis atomizer called the Vulcan (stainless steel mini DID clone, DuD, chud, etc.. But it's STAINLESS
) from a shop in New Jersey; postman dropped it in the box a few days later.
Now, I'm cool with this vaping thing, but I have no need to compensate and just can't see myself ever even considering a 'MOD'. This Vulcan atomizer is small and looks good on an eGo style battery. What's even more great about it? It actually gives me the sense of SMOKING.. There is REAL vapor
produced by this thing and the default draw is somewhere between the T3S and EVOD.
Why didn't I just order that in the first place?!?! Well, it's because genesis style atomizers are labeled as "advanced - not for beginners" and I'm not even a month into my quit. Hell, I know Ohm's law and I'm handy with a soldering iron (I have had to repair my craptastic 650mah eGo knockoffs several times in the last few weeks!) so why not?
I have to be up front with you folks: building a genesis atomizer is NOT rocket surgery. Can you wrap your mind around Ohm's law? Do you own a multimeter? Can you twist a spliff?
FWIW, I wrapped my coil at 1.5 Ohms and it works great with even my craptastic 650mah eGo knockoffs, right down to the point when the button flashes telling me it's time to recharge. It leaks less than the Kanger products I've tried. It doesn't leak at ALL, in fact. And it produces at least three times the vapor. IT COST TEN BUCKS plus an extra dollar for the cheapest pack of rolling papers my c-store carries (mango flavored, BTW). Oh, yeah; I also replaced the drip tip with a basic plastic one at $1.50 from the local vape shop because the metal one just sucked. The mini genesis atomizer is the best purchase I've made so far and I think it will go a long way to keeping me away from cigs.
Thanks for reading.. I've been lurking for awhile and thought I'd share a little. Lots of great info here!
