Hi all. I can say I honestly wouldn't have believed it totally if it didn't finally happen to me. I should have had more faith in fellow ECFers :p

I am finally experiencing the "loss of taste" phase of vaping!!!! I truly can't believe it. All of my juices taste bad...at first I thought my atties, then my batteries...but nope. It's real. Most of that wonderful, rich, vibrant flavor is about 50% gone and I get some weird underlying flavor.

SO...How long does this last, and are there any ways to bring back my taste buds, and how many others have had this issue??

Thank you!

I hear ya and am goin through the exact same thing, now. Thought it was cuz I used TV Atomic Cinnacide for a week straight. A lot of people on here say to stop vaping that flavor for at least 2 days and buds will return to normal. Sadly, that isn't the case for me:( Been off Cinnacide for at least 5 days now, too. Most people say this is a normal phenomena that everybody goes through at one point or another and that taste does eventually return to normal. I'm hoping!!

yup, it does happen. i've been vaping for around 5 months and its happened 2 or 3 times. it only ever lasted for 2 days or so for me. you've just gotta roll with it, keep drinking water and maybe pick up a bottle of biotene mouthwash.

one phenomena i've experienced that i don't think i've seen mentioned much is a general loss of satisfaction. maybe its not very common but its happened to me. its where no matter how much you vape, you just don't feel satisfied. that lasts for about a day, its another thing youve just gotta roll with but having a strong, lung filling juice on hand helps. i use the pg based dekang juices when that happens due to the stronger throat hit.

yes it sucks. but i'd rather lose my ability to taste for a few days than my ability to breathe for a lifetime...

That happened to me, but I think it's because I was waiting for a new VV setup. I vaped my head off and got too much nicotine, but higher power on my new PV took care of it.

I feel for ya Iceman.
Maybe send me all your best juices and each day I'll vape a different one and extensively describe how good it is in my attempt to convey the "taste" for you.

Seriously tho....I've not had this happen and don't especially want to. BUT....should it happen, I know Iceman will vape my good stuff and tell me how tasty they are.

Best of luck on getting those taste buds under control...everyone. :thumb:

It's happened to me a couple times, too. I even tried vaping the stronger flavors like Fire&Ice and Wyatt Earp. I could taste them but not as much. When my taste buds get all wonky, I'll vape just straight menthol and that seems to help. I'll also munch on crackers and that helps too. The menthol "wakes up" my taste buds, btw.

Good luck! Hope it works out...just be patient. :)

Been vaping over a year and this has happened several times for me.
What helps me get through this is to drink more water, brush my tongue when I brush my teeth, suck on some hard candy, alternate vaping different flavored juices.

It can be frustrating and maddening at the same time. Just bear with it, it will soon pass.

Been vaping a month and have recently had the loss of flavor and the loss of satisfaction at times. I think I need really strong deep flavors like tobacco and coffee and a really 'vics' like menthol. Otherwise the fruity ones and the milder nutty tobaccos just taste weak as hell and I run to the smokies.

Quality juices, around 16mg nic and strong strong flavors are going to be my mainstays now, not strawberry or weak coffees I've tried. And no CHEAP juices.

I had my first dripping at home session today and WOW! With my tobacco flavor Janty Oriental the th, headrush and vapor were way better than my ego-t set up.

Same thing happened with me, vaped a cinamon based liquid and my taste went away. It came back after a week and I vaped other flavors and it was fine, but then when I went back and vaped that cinnamon liquid, my tastes went away again. So I think my taste buds are allergic to cinnamon, might be just me.

WOW people great!! Thank you thank you.

Actually I am a few days in like this now and I "think" that maybe today I can taste a little better. I will definitely try all of the things like water, brushing tongue more, and crackers.

LOL...I love the post about sending my favorite juices out so that you could tell me how they taste. Hilarious.

I am sad to learn that it happens more than once though :(

GL all...I'll definitely let you know when they kick back in full force. I've only been chain vaping for 2.5 months.

I call it "flavor cycling" and I just came out of one that really sucked. It didn't just affect the way my juices DIDN'T taste, it affected some other things that I usually really enjoy, like the really nice bottle of Merlot that my fiance bought for me. When I first opened it a couple of weeks ago, it tasted wonderful. During my "flavor cycle" it tasted like drinking the water squeezed from a dirty, wet mop. Eeeewww!

I forgot all about that. It's so true. Sense of smell and taste get out of whack for me too!!!

One time I was making an Asian dish that required dried chili peppers. I couldn't smell the chili peppers and wound up putting in about a 1/4 cup of peppers. It tasted great, but my hubby and son's face started turning red. Soon sweat was pouring off their foreheads. Eyes started tearing up.:laugh:

I have noticed that since vaping - whether I'm going through a flavor cycle or not, there's seldom any leftoevers. If there is, it's eaten the next day.

My poor dogs. They hardly get any table scraps anymore.:)
