I'm allowed to vape at work. Two US Customs agents came to inspect our facility after a flood that we had on Monday. Because of the flood, my office is off limits until they get it dry and replace everything that needs replacing. Anyway, I'm stuck working in the outer office and wasn't aware that the warehouse guy had brought the agents back after inspecting their area and I was puffing away. I know they saw me. They didn't say or ask me anything but it sure was a weird situation.

They wouldn't have been able to do anything about it anyway. For one thing, the vaporizers and liquid aren't illegal... yet. For another, even if they were, that kind of enforcement is out of their jurisdiction. If it isn't in a box that's traveling across borders, they can't do anything about it.

Good for you, though! That must have been fun/weird/cool.

That is fantastic. It'd be really great if there were customs agents that vaped. You just know there has to be at least a few! I imagine that there's "Vaper Parties" at customs where they go through shipments, and they have a few beers and laugh at all the free stuff they're getting!!

If you're a customs agent and you vape, and believed in e-cigs... wow, that'd make it hard to sleep at night for me anyway, knowing you're preventing so many people from life saving e-cigs.

Well from what I've seen from a past job at DHL. Working with customs they don't seem to care much about anything. One would talk to me about all the clubbing and drugs he did.. and anytime a new pipe came through he had to open the package and amaze himself. The only tobaco product they ever seized was large shipments of shisha (or however it's spelt) that came through wrapped in clothing and marked as a gift. Other than that they never cared. As long as they got a quota.

Only way to say it is they're humans too, or most of them at least. I'm sure that same guy is vaping away with one of our seized shipments.

These guys were at the job to audit our records, no biggie. Happens a couple times a year. It was still weird/funny to use the PV in front of them. I wouldn't imagine them ever coming back to seize anything. We are a seizure warehouse. They have us pick up seized items from them. I'd be horrified if we ever ended up getting a container full of e-cigs.
