I want to like them ... but I don't

I'm fairly new to vaping (barely two weeks in) but I've amassed a very small collection of e-liquid trying to find what I do/don't like (something like 15 flavors in all). Only problem is I'm finding I don't like much of anything I've bought except for the two straight vanilla flavors my husband got when he bought our kits. This has given me the big sad. :(

Does anyone have just ONE flavor they vape?

I'm trying hard not to be too bummed out about this, but I kind of am. And mostly because I'm nearly out of vanilla juice and not sure if my OMG!Emergency order of vanilla will come in before I run out of what I have.

I've found that I absolutely love a flavor then vape it all the time, after a while I get tired of it and search some more until my next favorite. That is the fun part of vaping after you find the right set up. The same flavor will taste differently at different voltages so you might want to consider getting a variable voltage device if you don't have one already. Since you're starting out, an eGo twist is not very expensive and it'll give you an idea.

I used to vape an English Toffee in the beginning, and now I can't stand the taste of it, it's too strong. Good luck and happy vaping!

I typically go in phases of having "one" juice that I primarily vape...and then a few weeks or month later, it ends up being something else. With a some less frequent vaping of some of my other favorite flavors in between. It's very likely as more time passes you will end up doing something similar. Unfortunately it can take some time to find the right juices and vendor for you. I have a collection of 60 or so juices right now...maybe more? And I only see it growing, as I continue to try new things, be intrigued by new vendors, etc.

All i can say is do not get discouraged. It's not uncommon, especially in the beggining to try a lot of juices before finding what is right for you. For example, early on for me, I had in my head that I wanted tobacco flavors....so I was ordering several diffrent tobacco juices from a handful of vendors, and really only liked maybe 3 of them? I then started to branch out to other flavor profiles, I thought maybe desserts would be for me, and the one area that I felt least interested in, (besides the savory flavors, I will never go there!) was fruits, which has ended up being what I actually enjoy vaping most. Since then, I've gained quite a collection of fruity juices, but at least I know they are in the flavor profile that satisfies me most. If you are just coming off cigarettes, your taste buds will likely change rather dramatically as well....something that tastes bad today, might end up tasting great to you in a week or two (or vice versa).

All I can say is to try and get some sample packs, so you can try a few different juices from a particular vendor at once. This way you also aren't stuck with large quantities of juice if they happen to be ones you dislike.

Do you mind if I ask which vendor(s) you have ordered from? Aside from the vanilla, are there specific flavors and flavor profiles (tobaccos, fruits, etc) that are of most interest to you? From there, I'm sure people will chime in and get you some recommendations for great juices and vendors that might be a good fit for you specifically.

Good luck!

Claudia - I am fairly new too, just 18 days in. I personally can't stick to one liquid, it seems I am all over the place. I personally prefer the tobacco based liquids as I was a 1 1/2 PAD smoker for over 40 years. But having a chocolate, vanilla or even blueberry handy in the interim seems to be my daily routine. I found that some of the liquids or cartos I got at first I didn't like at all, then a few days later would revisit them and think, hmmm not to bad.

The members here talk about their "go-to" vape, but honestly I haven't found mine yet. My taste buds are changing daily, in fact, yesterday they revolted on me completely and decided to not make an appearance at all. Just hang in there and if Vanilla is your choice, keep on with it...maybe down the road something else will strike your fancy!

I had the same problem. I dislike about 99% of juices I've tried. You just need to keep trying until you find a few you like.

Right now, I'm enjoying Sweet Caroline by iVape and Boba's Bounty by Alien Visions, which I find similar in a certain way (they both taste to me like chocolate tobacco, Boba's slightly more like a smore tobacco), Vanilla Tobacco by Vapedudes, and some of the Chinese liquids.

Actually, you might enjoy some of the Chinese stuff, such as Dekang or Hangsen. I've found them to be mild and satisfying, though I haven't tried their Vanilla flavours yet.

Keep at it; You'll find something you enjoy sooner or later!

Are there any that you sort of maybe like? My advice would be to hang onto them. Are you still smoking? How long since you've stopped?

I got a ton of juice I didn't like when I first vaped it. But, the more time that passes between then and now, I'm finding some of it is nice. Not to say there aren't still a few I don't like, just that my tastes are changing, and the juice is changing as it steeps too.

daniele25 - The vendors were Alice in Vapeland, RawrVapor, and Virgin Vapor. I grabbed a lot of different flavors. Sample packs and the like, just because I had NO IDEA where to start or what I'd like. I liked AiV's Cupcake City, but it quickly became too sweet and I cut it with regular vanilla. VV I liked their Vanilla Mint, but the mint quickly became too strong and again, cut that with regular vanilla. The vanilla's I have are Killa Vanilla from High Caliber and Vanilla from Rocky Mountain Vapor. Loved the Killa Vanilla, but I very much prefered the 100% VG juice from VV. (I plan on making another VV purchase for their vanilla for sure.) I ordered Vanilla and Vanilla 'nilla from VapeDudes at 95%VG/5%PG. I am letting RawrVapor juices steep, as I've read that's the best to do for them.

Elantis - My taste buds are disappearing and reappearing on a nearly minute by minute basis at the moment! LOL Doesn't help that three days into vaping I came down with a nasty cold. That, thankfully, seems to be leaving and every now and then I get a good taste of the juice I'm using.

I'd really love some juice that was carmel/vanilla swirl, or a really good, juicy apple flavor, like a golden delicious. The idea of a vanilla heavy Belgium waffle is appealing as well at the moment, but that could be because I made that for breakfast over the weekend and it was just yummy!

Would it be beneficial for me to maybe order just vanilla flavoring and add it to the juice as I want? (Which is what I do to say my Belgium waffle mix. Actually, I add more vanilla than is called for in the recipe to just about every desert I make.)

Welcome, and gratz!

As someone pointed out above, you're taste buds will be changing for a while.

Me personally...
When I first started out, I had to have STRONG flavors.
I couldn't stand the tobaccos, and I still don't see the appeal of ones like beer or bacon.

I leaned towards the fruit flavors. The simple ones, like one or two flavors in them.
I'm an oddball, the complex flavors that are supposed to taste like "something" never tasted like that to me.
I don't taste cinnamon roll, I just taste cinnamon.... so.... I stuck with simple.
Orange, lemon-lime, pear, strawberry, etc.

Then I went through an odd I-can't-stand-all-this-sweet and went with sour.
Sour is hard to find.
I found one vendor that would make lime for me with "extra pucker".

Now, I'm back to sweet, but not sticky sweet. I also make my own.
But!!
Juicy Vapor has some nice flavors. Either simple or more complex.
ECBlends is another one that has both, and they have excellent prices.

Maybe, your taste buds are doing like mine, and you need the simple flavors right now.
And most vendors do carry sample packs.
Good luck, and let us know how you're doing.

edited to add:
You may also want to give unflavored a try.

It's been 13 days since I completely quit smoking cigarettes. I only continued the analogs with vaping for about a day (until I'd finished my pack).

New vapors often experience not being able to detect flavors, or many of them being either weak or downright disgusting. This can be the result of inferior juices (there are many out there, unfortunately) or "new vapor's taste bud syndrome" (my name creation).

Years of smoking burning tobacco smoke has damaged your taste buds. Once you quit smoking, the taste buds do repair themselves, but it takes some time. This healing process varies from person to person. Just be aware that this is indeed what is happening, and you will soon start to be able to taste more from your e-juices, food, and anything else edible. Drink plenty of water, and be a stickler of good oral hygeine to hasten the recovery of your taste buds.

When vaping, be aware that it is important to exhale through your nose as well as your mouth. Much of our sense of taste is dependent upon our sense of smell. You've already experienced this when food and drink has no or little flavor when you have a head cold.

Some e-juices, especially those flavors that are "made-to-order" with organic components or multiple components, may need time to steep, or mature. Generally 1-2 weeks is all that is required. So if one of these juices doesn't impress you upon delivery, give it 1-2 weeks time and revisit it again, you might be surprised to find the juice has changed drastically for the better.

I cannot find the appeal of savory at all. I also do not like any of the tobacco's. I'm a sweets person, for sure. (My bag of Swedish fish in my drawer at work can attest to that ;p) I have a Wild Watermelon sample from VV, but when I sniff it, it doesn't seem like watermelon to me. And I'm not one of those people who hate the taste of "fake" or "candy" watermelon, I actually love both the real and the "fake". I might have to take the plunge on that one and just vape to see, but fear of hating it is stopping me. ;p

I've found that I really like the Rawr Truth Serums and Hawaii Series. They are fruity and light. I've noticed over the past couple of weeks as I get used to the vape experience the flavors I like have changed from strong flavors like Vanilla or Menthol to fruit.

I looked at the Truth Serums, but they have coconut in them, and on the off chance my coconut allergy bridges the gap from eating to vaping, I didn't take the chance with it. They did look very appealing though.

I'll add this part for the newer vapors reading this thread:

You'll read a lot about the more experienced vapors talking about their "all day vape" or "go-to vape". That's great that they have found one for themselves, and it IS important to find a flavor or two that you can count on to get you through the especially tough beginning stage of quitting smoking. However, don't be afraid of trying flavors you wouldn't believe that you'd ever like. I've read of people who didn't like menthol cigarettes, but they do like a menthol vape, or at least some menthol added to another flavor, which can add a little "something something" to a weak or mild flavor, especially the fruit vapes.

Many people eventually find a flavor niche. It might be sweets, candies, pastries. It might be fruit flavors. Or tobacco flavors. Mine is coffee flavors. I have probably 10 coffee flavors that I vape at some point during the week. I also like fruits. And, I like the occassional menthol vape, too, maybe because I smoked a Marlboro menthol before vaping.

You've probably already read or heard, don't try to find a flavor to duplicate the flavor or experience of your old cigarettes. It ain't gonna happen. No one can duplicate the taste of burning tobacco smoke in a vape.

I find the most interesting thing about vaping is the multitude variety of flavors available. Why be stuck vaping one particular flavor? I'm amazed that when we smoked, we were extremely loyal to just one brand and flavor. Doesn't need to be with vaping.

When trying out new flavors from different vendors, be smart and cost conscious. When possible, buy sampler packs or trial sizes to decide which flavors you like enough to buy again in a larger size. There are recommendations of some juice vendors in a couple of threads here in the e-liquid discussion forum of favorite vendors that sell economical sampler packs.

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/new-members-forum/332125-best-place-get-variety-small-niquid-samples.html

Many people test new juice flavors by dripping on an atomizer. I never learned how to do this well, so I had to find another method. Devoting a cartomizer to each test juice was not an economical solution; you'll never get the initial flavor out of the carto. I've found the ce3 devices to be perfect for this. They hold a small capacity, which is fine because generally you only need about 1 ml of juice to know if you like it or not. They are reusable, if you don't care for the flavor remove it, rinse the ce3 with water, and refill with the next flavor to try. There is no polyfill in the ce3 like a carto has to retain a flavor, so a good rinsing should provide a clean slate for the next juice.

I'll second the comment about holding on to the ones you aren't so sure of right now, as that could totally change as your tastes change. (and there's a good change the juices themselves will change as well)

I haven't tried AiV or Virgin Vapor, but I am very familiar with Rawr. Being the fruity vaper I am, they've been my main vendor for months now, and I have about 40 juices from them. Based on some of the things you said, it sounds like the sweets and dessert type vapes are what is doing it for you, at this point anyway. From Rawr, I'd highly suggest trying their Banana Cream Pie..I've heard a lot of people rave about their Chocolate Dipped Nana as well, that one I have not tried though. Baked Apples might be another one of theirs that works for you. (I think they actually have a sweets sample pack, if that isn;t the one you already have, which might be a good one to pick up). I can recommend a ton of their more fruity and tropical juices, but based on what you have found in terms of the flavors you are liking right now, I thought those would be some good suggestions.

Some other juices I would recommend would be Vanilla Bourbon Bean (with extra flavor!) from Highbrow. Their flavors are great, and that to me is the best vanilla I have tried by far, but to me they need the extra flavor option, as they are too mild otherwise, IMO. Their Hazelnut Cream is another...but again, with extra flavor. Some others that might work for you would be Tuscan Cocoa from Heathers Heavenly Vapes, hands down best chocolate vape I have tried. (most chocolates I have tried have a chemical-like taste to them, this one is just pure chocolately goodness). You might also like their Blade Runner, which is a vanilla mint.

Hopefully some of this info is helpful! I'm sure you will find juices that are more satisfying once you get through a few more, and as your tastes come back to life a bit. Best of luck!

constant state of confusion
I think the "all day vape" is over rated. I have been at this for almost 2 years and I do not nor have I ever had an all day. I do have 3 flavors that have their own tanks and when that tank is empty, it gets refilled with that flavor. But the wonderful thing about vaping is that, unlike analogs, you don't have to stick with the same brand. The flavors in my other tanks are constantly rotating with different flavors.

I have my favorite vendors (AIV and Rawr are my top two right now) but I have probably had juice from no fewer than 30 different companies. For the first year, I just looked for juice I could tolerate vaping so I could get my nic and not have to smoke. Sometimes it takes a long time for you to find things that you love. If the vanillas are the only flavors that you find you like right now, there is nothing wrong with just vaping that. Whatever it takes to keep you from turning back to the stinkies.

Everyone's vaping journey is different. You do what's best for you. And yeah, you will probably spend a lot of money finding what works for you but sometimes that is what it takes. it's different for everyone. Just remember, vaping is a journey, not a destination.
