I would love to participate in this program as I have a special reason to do so. I lost my best friend of 30 years, buddy, confidant and all around great guy to bladder cancer on 10/27/11. He was only 48 at the time and I would like to do something in his memory and also help this great cause!
But first let me preface this post by saying, I am not "techy" when it comes to PC's. I can do some "techy" PC related things to a certain extent, with very detailed directions, but I feel that if I try to participate in this program I would need a "Dummies Guide to FAH" LOL. Basically something that would give step-by-step instructions minus the technical language in layman's terms. Should I participate, I would basically need someone to hold my hand (in a platonic way of course
) and guide me through it. I'm a pretty quick learner, so hopefully it wouldn't take too long for me to get a comfortable grasp on what I'm doing.
I've been lurking on this forum for about a week now and read all I can and tried to understand how this works, as far as my PC goes. I just installed Core Temp and have it running, but I have no clue as to what the temperature threshold of my PC is or should be. Also by reading all the "techy" talk and higher mathematical language, I think I lost a few brain cells trying to figure it out
I'm an English professor and during my college years when I had to take algebra, I nearly lost my mind trying to pass that course. Also, I, along with many of my colleagues have never figured out why English majors need algebra anyway LOL. But I digress, which is not common if you have read many of my posts.
One main concern I have is if my connection speed would be a problem. I live in the sticks and am lucky to have a DSL connection. My connection speeds are, on the average, 0.46Mbps (downloading) and 0.21Mbps (uploading). I used to play MMORPG's such as Rift, WoW and the like and rarely had lag issues about 95% of the time. Also and most importantly, I don't wanna mess up my PC!
Here are my PC specs (let me know if you need more and tell me where to find them):

Thanks in advance for any help! I'd really like to get the ball rolling and join the ECF team.
