Hey all, so I'm about to order myself an E-Cig but I have a question before i do so.

So I plan on using this as a real cigarette (not going to be puffing on it constantly. 9-12 puffs every hour or two like I do with cigarettes). How much nicotine should i have in my "e-liquid"?

Oh, another question, I'm paying 59.99 for this device (no e-liquid included nor pre-filled carts) is this a decent deal? If you know of anything better, please let me know (keep in mind that I live in Canada)

Thanks!

Take your time and look for more deals... that seems a bit expensive for a 510 starter kit.
I'm sure some Canadians here will chime in about there favorite sellers.

*Edit: I have to come back and say I had no idea these things were so difficult to ship from USA to Canada, but even if you have to pay a bit more, it is still a great decision compared to analogs.

I, personally, would err on the side of possibly having too much nic rather than not enough, at least initially. I've found that when I get juice that's too strong I tend to simply vape less and still feel satisfied. If nothing else you could order from a supplier that also sells 0 nic liquid or PG / VG, get some high strength liquid AND a matching 0 nic or PG/VG so you can cut it if you so desire.

I couldn't get completely off of analogs until I went to a high-strength liquid. The main challenge is to find a way to vape consistently without desiring an analog. Get out of the analog habit. After that you can work on cutting the nicotine levels down if that is what you want to do.

I bought my 1st at the weekend.

My 1st vaping experience (3 days and no analogues so far!) and tbh after about 8 puffs I feel exactly like I had a cigarette, th, nicotine rush, satisfying vapor, taste, the lot.

You can get thick clouds of vape for literally as long as there is jucie in the cart it seems with my model.

Though after about 8 - 10 puffs of the high strength jucie at 16mg I have in there - I am done!

Lookin forward to getting some nice fruit and menthol flavours and having my own personal electric hookah like experience. Pretty wicked!

I thought vp's were just gimicks but clearly not so.

Another thing - like I mentioned as a person who also enjoys shisha / hookas for the fragrant flavours and relaxing feel you get after smoking them - this is a godsend as I can switch flavours to suit my mood.

So I don't only (and nor do you have to ) thnk of it as a cigarette replacement (although so far it has been as i have not had one since and feel absolutley no need to as I enjoy the vaping more and feel WAY healthier) but also as a NEW activity in and of itself which you can enjoy for it's own merits. That way you'll stop obsessing about smoking and it being the same or not etc and will have instead moved on to a new experience..

Hope that helps and hope it makes sense.

I'd reccomend (as with anythign - you get what you pay for) spashing out on a very good model and juices so that you wont be dissapointed and give up.

I second cignot. Better price and more variety in what you get, as far as colors and stuff, plus it comes with 5 prefilled but that stuff tends to not be the best taste.

As far as how much nicotine...that's completely personal and no one can answer that. I thought I wouldn't need a high MG but I did and started with 24mg. You can always start high and if it's too much, get a bit of PG/VG or distilled water to cut it down with. Even though I only use 12-18 anymore, I still buy the highest I can get and then cut it down. I also make my own.

Hi, and welcome to ECF. I use a Yeti 510 (unfortunately I think they are out-of-stock right now at AltSmoke.com) I absolutely love mine and trust me - people that say the batteries die in 1 hour and take 3-4 hrs to recharge have obviously forgotten how they actually work. I "puff" on mine like mad (4-6 sec drags every 20-40 seconds) and my batteries last me 3-4 HOURS and only take ONE HOUR to recharge. So I have spare batteries and use a PCC.

With the smoking habits that you described, a 510 is fine for you. If you only plan to puff for 9-12 min every hour or two, the 510 battery will be fine. Just make sure if you do get a 510, get a spare battery or two, and a PCC.

The 510, as some said, is a great starter kit, although most end up with an Ego that has a battery with higher capacity. Ego and 510 atomizers are compatible. Were I to start over, I'd probably go with the Ego kit, even though it's twice as much. Two batteries will get you through a day, whereas the 510 batts are only about 1 1/2 hours each before charging.

I looked at the 510 when I started (just a week or so ago) and although I am sure the PCC helps with the battery situation, I erred on the side of caution and went for the eGo as cigarette form factor was not my top concern and after some research I started feeling I did not want that form factor anyway.

So far all of my e-cig business has been through Cignot your Midwest Electronic Cigarette store. due to recommendations I got on this forum. I find their prices and services to be great. For me they have been one stop shopping for everything for my eGo.

Well I have heard everything costs in Canada... I think any kit will be cheaper than what a carton costs in Canada. I am brand new to vaping. I have one day under my belt. I bought a more expensive unit to start with. Fell to the advertising. I bought the safecig. Wow, could not believe the strong hit I got off it. My battery lasted about 8 1/2 hours before I recharged it which took a little more than an hour. For me the money is the least of my reasons to stop smoking analogs... A few puffs and wow I dont need anymore... I ordered the 18mg carts even though I smoked light 100 analogs... Maybe I will buy the Joye too... I just dont know if I want to .... around with filling, dripping etc... Time will tell!

Hey there!

Congrats on making the switch!

Decent choice on the 510 model, and around the forums, either a 510 or a Kr808d-1 seem to be the most popular for new vapers looking to vape, not smoke.

The 510 replicates the cigarette experience pretty well, so you are on your way.

EVAPERS is a reputable vendor in Canada, so another plus.

Keep in mind that in Canada, you will pay a bit more than our American counterparts, so it all boils down to what you feel comfortable with.

Vendors of note that you can rely on:

Happy Vaper - Canada Electronic Cigarettes and E-Liquid, DIY Concentrated Flavorings! = Jack is considered the cream of the Canadian crop
ePuff - Electronic Cigarette Canada Quebec Montreal = Quebec based vendor, who rocks in my opinion
E Cigarette Canada Vancouver Island Electronic Cigarette sales = apparently pretty fast, and has a lot of fans on the west coast

In regards to juice/liquid, buying smaller amounts in varying strengths is probably a good move. If I can make a suggestion, it is better to have a stronger liquid earlier in the day, and a milder one later on. If you are starting vaping, and are not a heavy vaper, getting 24-36 mg juice is not the wisest decision, however having a small, 5 ml bottle of 24 mg could be seen as smart, for those early morning cravings (which are usually tougher to beat than the ones later in the day).....

Perhaps a sampler pack from the vendor you purchase from is wise. The vendors listed are VERY approachable, and will let you know what they can offer in your particular situation.

Anyhow, there's tons of advice to be given, but you seem on the right track. Once you get your 5 post minimum, join us in the Canadian subforum. Most of us made purchases early in our vaping career that weren't a perfect fit, so even if you make some mistakes early on, we're all here to cheer you on and help out if needed.

My current local supplier on Vancouver Island sells complete 510 kits for $39 and soon EM Rivas for $49. Unfortunately his webpage has not been completed yet and he does not ship at this time. Hopefully it will all be up and running early in the new year.

Sorry to say but, most Canadian vendors are over priced with a few exceptions so look around and check out the Canadian suppliers forum.

Hi Bluefosho!
huggy.gif
Congrats on making one of the best decisions of your life - to quit smoking & start vaping!

OK, so we can help. First, I totally recommend the automatic Joye 510 (white with red LED) for newbie vapers. It looks & feels just like a cigarette, and it is activated by inhalation (no buttons to fiddle around with like on the manual batts, which means the automatic feels more like a cigarette & makes a better starter e-cig). I also recommend using the 510 cartomizers instead of a separate atomizer (it's simpler to use, better value, and newbie-friendly). (Speaking of which...never get pre-filled carts or cartos. They almost always taste funny and/or vape poorly. E-juice should always be freshly put into an empty cart or carto.)

Here's a photo of both the automatic Joye 510 batt, and a 510 cartomizer:

IMG_5573a.jpg

I also recommend against a starter kit! Starter kits almost always come with manual batteries (activated by a button, not by inhaling) & separate atomizers. And depending on where you go...you're not really saving a fortune with the kit route, anyway. Sure, the packaging is a bit fancier. But that's not important, lol.

Where in Canada do you live? I live in Toronto. One of Canada's best suppliers ever is Jack at HappyVaper.com, and he's right here in the GTA. He is an invaluable resource for newbie & seasoned vapers alike. Seriously, you won't find a friendlier or more helpful guy anywhere. He will do whatever it takes to make you a happy vaper!

Automatic 510 batts from him are only twenty bucks apiece. He calls them "Happy 510" batts but they are genuine Joye products, so yay. I recommend you get 2, so you always have one to vape with while the other is charging).

A 5-pak of 510 cartomizers is ten bucks (I bought three paks with my first-ever order & continue to regularly get them). The USB charger is only a few bucks. Simple as pie! And affordable!

Jack's definitely a favourite for hardware, tools & concentrated flavourings. The only thing that Jack doesn't have is PG w/nicotine. For your nic needs, you have two choices. Premixed e-juice...or DIY.

If you decide to go with premixed e-juice...there are several Canadian suppliers offering this.

But personally I recommend DIY to everyone. It's simple as pie (especially with an e-juice calculator), simply counting drops & stirring - much more affordable than premixed - and it lets you retain control over every aspect of the juice (how strong or weak the nic is, how much VG is included, if any...how much flavouring is included, how small or large a batch to make, etc etc). Alternatively, premixed is ready to go as soon as you get it...but you have no idea how much flavouring has been added. With premixed, you cannot adjust the juice without further diluting the flavour. And let's say you spend anywhere from $10 to $30 on a relatively large bottle of premixed e-juice...only to find out that it's a flavour that tastes horrible to you, that you can't stand. That bottle will basically go to waste. For a newbie vaper eager to find their first go-to flavours...premixed offers a lot of potential for expensive hit-and-miss. DIY lets you sidestep that.

For DIY, you just need flavourless PG w/nic & some concentrated flavour drops...some plain PG & plain VG....some dram bottles...& some blunt-tip syringes (good for stirring, as well as cartomizer filling). HappyVaper has all of these except the PG w/nic. And super affordably.

For the PG w/nic, I highly recommend my own liquid supplier of choice: Evapers. Go to the link below, choose Flavorless, and nic strength of your choice. I always go with the 28mg (that's 28 parts of nicotine per 1000 parts) and dilute it with plain VG + flavouring to create juices between 18mg and 20mg in nic strength. But yeah...Evapers is also right here in the GTA, has super fast shipping, friendly service, and a consistently good product.

E-Liquid 17 Flavors - 30 ml

Hope this info has helped you out...we'll be happy to answer more questions too...and again, congrats on the wonderful decision to quit smoking & start vaping!! Looking forward to seeing you in the Canada section of the forum soon!

I would go to happy vaper (ships from toronto, and has a shop in a flea market) and get an Ego kit: Canadian E-cigarette Happy/Joye eGo Starter Kit - Black, Silver, White, Titanium

Pick up the kit, and then go to vapables (ships from mississauga): Vapables.com and pick a 30ml bottle (or a few) of a flavor you like (a lot of new vapers like the Do More Eh)

Unlike Rachel, I would say to get a manual battery, as they perform better, especially when you start dripping (and it won't take long) GL and pm me if you have any questions. Also I'm in the GTA and if you want to try out a few juices I have lots :p

Are you saying that plain distilled water will actually cut the strength of the nictotine? That would be great. Or does that just mean that the fluid will be thinner ( more watery)
Thanks
